Left for dead 98 248 Voyager

Good points. It has the roller in the front and a pad on the rear crossmember. Could have hit one the axles on a steep ramp or those were added afterwards. The transom seems solid jumping on the motors and sounds good with a mallet. I'm going to put new sealant on the two joints and screws. I...

Left for dead 98 248 Voyager

Thought I would share this Voyager I picked up for 12k a few months ago. It was abandoned at a marina after the owner passed away. Not the exact hull I wanted, but for the money it should work. I did check compression on the motors prior to buying it, but other that just drug it home. Much to...

    Simrad not showing depth?!

I have several Lowrance units. Not much experience with Simrad, but still made by Navico. That connector labled radar is just an ethernet port. Are you running a radar? If so you'd network a network hub since each unit only has the one port. Where its not displaying depth, can you hit the...

    Simrad not showing depth?!

Do you have an ethernet cable between the units? Need that to share sonar.

Cabin cushion covers in the washer

I've done it. Washed and dryed with no issues. Pretty sure I used the delicate and low heat settings.

Yamaha 200 Saltwater Series Squeaking Sound

Could be a bearing starting to go out. Does it still squeak in gear? Also, you may be able can use a stethoscope or dowel rod to help pinpoint the noise.

    Fitting 228 hardtop on a 208

I'd bet they are very close, and you got the guy to modify it if need be. I've got a 93 208 with a factory hardtop if you need any measurements just let me know.

Carburetor rebuild - Pilot screw turns question

That's part of the reason I mentioned getting a service manual and following the steps for link/sync. Admittingly I'm much more familiar with Mercs. My understading is the pilot screws are just metering the air to the idle circuits prior to the blades opening. Inital ignition timing should be...

Carburetor rebuild - Pilot screw turns question

I'd set them all the same, get it fired up and adjust all as needed to get the correct idle RPM. I also always suggest getting a factory service manual.

Would you avoid a mid 90s Grady White in the 2020s?

Depends on the boat. All of them will need atleast some work. I tend to like the layouts better on the 90s boats. I've got a 93 208 hooked to the truck now, going fishing tomorrow. Still rock solid, but I've got alot of time in it. Wiring, updating, hoses, line, ect. There are good ones out...
