Looking at repowering 2001 282 which had twin yamaha 200 HPDIs. Max hp for the boat is 450. The obvious and most expensive option is Yamaha 225 4.2L. Has anyone gone with the yamaha 200 inline4 or suzuki 225 on this boat? If so, are you happy?

Hi Anchor Boy,
I just repowered (twice now) with the 4.2 liter. I have a collected 10 hours experience with it. I love the digital controls and it was worth it for me to go digital. Twins may or may not be worth it.

The 200 inline 4 has had great reviews. The question is the displacement greater or equal to the current 6 cylinders? You're going from s 2 stroke ,which often have better low end torque to a 4 stroke. The inline 4s may be great for that boat. The 4.2 225 would be awesome for it. If you can't go that route due to costs the Suzuki ain't a bad choice either. You could hang 2 G2s on it too.

There are a pair of lightly used 200hp Verado's for sale in the parts section on The Hull Truth. I think they have under 125hrs. Might be worth a look if this is the route you want to take.
I just repowered my 2006 282 with Mechanical 4.2L 250's, I replaced the orig 3.3L 250's...very happy with the outcome.
Good luck with your decision.
