never bought a brand new boat (I know, i Know should never buy a new boat) and MSRP seems to be plucked from the sky. Any idea if this is good, bad, terrible? This is an ordered brand new boat that will be built this winter. It also has a good bit of options; hardtop, electronics, etc.

MSRP $141,184
Grady days cast -$1,500
Pre season cash -$3,800
Dealer discount -$12,960

sub total $122,924
trade 2006 205 -$25,000

selling price $97,924

Thanks. yeah, my wife says the same about keeping the trade separate. I like including it - makes the number smaller LOL.

I don't know about the new boat price, but I'd say the price on your trade is pretty good. I sold a 2007 208 this spring with F200 and hard top for $31,000. Trade in value is always lower. I'd say they're at least not lowballing your trade.

Dealer needs to discount more than that. They are not doing you any favors on your trade. It is a fair price and no more. They should discount a minimum of 10% of MSRP. A good deal would be closer to 15%. There is still 4K - 9K in this deal. They will till make a good profit. Remember, the 1500 + 3800 is factory cash. The dealer isn't paying that. Offer him 90K plus your boat.

Played with the site linked above. interesting in a few ways. Both the site and the dealer list the boat, without options at the same price - around $106K. However, after the options the site has the MSRP at 130K and the dealer at 140K. The dealer then lists a "discount" of 13K - is it really a discount? not sure where that 10K delta came from.

Also with regards to the options. looks like i was quoted below invoice on the port side seat. no charge on livewell and a small discount on a few other items. the two biggest cost options - hardtop and windlass, i was charged full MSRP on the windlass and $300 over retail on the hardtop.

I'd want 20% off and a fair shake on my trade minimum.
