Not sure how the 228 hardtop differs from the 232 but I bolted my radar dome right to the hardtop and it works perfectly. There is a slight downward angle to the hardtop that levels out when running on a plane.

I have a Garmin 24XHD radar. I mounted it straight to my hard top and it's ok. I am putting a 3 Degree wedge under it. It would lose targets too far out for my liking. I know radars have a blind spot close to the boat. I am hoping the wedge does the trick . I trailer the boat and considered a 3 inch pedestal but I chose the wedge to keep the radome on the hard top lol. I mounted the dome so the leading edge is over the hump or as far forward as I could get it. Good luck.
