Hey fellas
I’ve been thinking allot of adding til and trim to my offshore steering system.
Boat is currently rigged with the original hydraulic unit I think from sea star.
I saw this and was wondering if anyone ever tackled this job?

Looks simple enough but figured I’d ask.
I feel like this boat should have came with it but idk maybe the previous owner replaced it with a cheapo fixed one?
Anyone ever done this?

Did this on the Islander. Has to drill a larger hole for the tilt mechanism. I borrowed a 4 inch hole saw, mounted a temporary center board for the center bit. Hydraulic lines hooked right up. Pulling the wheel was a difficult part as well, had to borrow a wheel puller for that one too. It is messy when the oil drips and drains from hoses and Helm. Use two quarts to thoroughly flush the system. I made a funnel with a fuel line and nipple that threaded into the Helm. It was a great upgrade. Afterwards though, the steering cylinder started leaking, probably on its way out also after 20 years of service.
