I was thinking of adding a fighting chair to my offshore.
specifically this model:

with this seat

When not in use can the seat and pedestal can be removed and stored in the cabin.
Ideally I have enough space for this as I usually fish alone, but like the idea that if some ppl came w me the seats removable.
I would need to pop up the rear deck and fiberglass in some support wood that would then be thru bolted to the pedestal.
Not a big project but defiantly something I've been thinning of all winter long.
Another fun use could be for a table:

seriously guys who wouldn't mind a nice table or fighting chair in the center of their deck (which on the Offshore is HUGEEEE)

Has anyone here ever tried this?
let me know what you guys think.

Regardless of how much reinforcing you add to the screw-down hatch, in the end you're still relying on the little screws around the perimeter to keep you in place. There's going to be quite a lot of leverage on that hatch. I think what I would do is build structure between the stringers such that it butts right up against the hatch when you put it back it down. Essentially, you would sandwich the hatch between the chair mount and the new structure. Add a removable deck plate (access hole) so you reach the nuts to through bolt everything. If you didn't get the structure tight to the hatch, you can always slip in some filler material - a piece of plywood... even washers - to take up the space. The goal would be to transfer the load down to the new structure, which in turn transfers the load to the stringers.

I've seen it done. Get a nice mount that allows you to remove and cleanly cover it so when you want the space, you can have it. Reinforcement is critical as Dennis says. Before buying anything, take the time to investigate and plan. This way you know what you need and what needs to be done.
