last week i went through all of the electronics on the boat and ran the engines for about 10 minutes each. i also wiped off a couple of layers of dust. after all, it had been sitting idle all winter. everything checked out fine. so yesterday when i tried to hook it up to top off the fuel tanks, i found the trailer jack seized up. off to west marine for a new one. i'll have to fix the old one later. the fuel flow meter said 66 gallons and the main tank took 64 gallons. i'm happy with that. ready go to!
my parents and a friend arrived in the late afternoon, and dad crawled straight off to bed. apparently he had spend all of the previous night at one of the indian casinos near fresno. my younger kid has a real sense of humor.
we left the house at 4am and made it down to monterey at 5:30, in the water and underway at 6am. meet the crew. here's us army major taro asami (ret.)......
yukio tani.......
dr. theodore deffinger .......
and marvin nunnenkamp.
we headed out around the point and took the run down to manny's spots just north of the "no fly" zone at point sur.
add up all of their ages and the top out a 310 years!!!!! it was just about as bad as fishing with the kids - cutting bait, baiting hooks, tossing fish in the box, untangling lines, complaints when they weren't catching and complaints when we had to reset. i had a blast!
the guys were having a little trouble working the iron, so i actually ended up switching them over to shrimp flies. midway through the morning, they decided to take a cigarette break so there was an open rail. i grabbed the last rod left with a 6 ounce megabait and literally nailed this bocaccio on the first cast. i weighed it out at 9 pounds 2 ounces. once again, i rule!!!!!!!!!!!
