damn, over $10k per foot? that is insane in that length range. no 23 ft boat is worth even half that in my opinion...

the 258 would likely be a bit more efficient and knife better through a head sea. the 232 will be more stable laterally

i assume you mean ventilation (props drawing air) rather than cavitation (boiling water caused by low pressure)? it would be useful to mention what brand engines, what mounting hole they are in, and what props you have.

why do people compare dryness of dc with curtains up to a cc with no curtains? get curtains on a cc and stay dry. plenty of room for 4 people to stay dry on a cc with curtains

if the issue is after it sat for the off season, my guess would be either condensation or bad gas. it sounds like the tank was not full over the off season. that can allow condensation to collect over heat/cool cycles. do you always fill up at the same station? maybe try somewhere else. do...
