    a general rule of thumb is to run a straight edge along the keel and mount the engine so that the front of the anti-ventilation plate is 1" above the straight edge for every 1' the engine is behind the transom

    depends. the traditional answer is in the fall when people's focus shifts away from boating, (assuming you live in an area without 12 months of boating). that being said, what is the current summer of boating and memories worth?

    yea, thats always the safe bet. it would be nice to have something that helps the water bead off and "self clear" when you take some spray over the bow
