Buying boat from Out of State, and having it shipped? Has anybody done it ?

When I bought the 2004 228 in NY my nephew who is a six-pack fisherman there went to the marina and checked out the boat - no survey and negotiated the purchase with the marina owner as he knew him and after ten years all is ok. Count me as lucky and i'm sure there are issues that I dont know...

Buying boat from Out of State, and having it shipped? Has anybody done it ?

I bought a ten year old 228 twelve years ago from Port of Egypt. Trailered out by a shipper to California. The only hassle was dealing with the Ca DMV until a lady there said she knew how to get the transfer completed. Still have the 228 - Great boat, steve

Non stopping aft bilge pump - GW 228

My 2004 228 out on the water realized the bilge would not stop running with no water in there. Back to the slip and finally disconnected the batteries and that stopped it from running. The switch on the panel would not stop it from running. This am used the hose at full power and was able to...

    2006 seafarer 228

Who needs to really go that fast. i have a 250 Suzuki on my 228 (painted bottom) and with a full tank was going 25mph at 4,500 RPM - that was in flat conditions in the bay here is San Francisco. That was a very confortable speed and the meter said the fuel use was 2.0 miles per gallon.

For Sale: 2005 Grady White Gulfstream 232

I bought a used 228 about ten years ago in July and the boat dealer arranged for shipping and all went well from NY to Northern Ca. They drove a pick-up to make the drive. Took them less than a week to make it across and it cost about $ 4,000. steve

Wise Coaming Bolster Pad - GW - 228

One of the bolsters has worn out after twenty years in the elements. The dimensions are 72" x 6" x2.25" Saw there are three holes drilled under the foam and two phillips screws at the base. Searched the internet and could only find - 48"x 6.75" x 2.25" - as the longest under Wise. I know...

Pulling the trigger on a pilot house on the 228

Don't fret about the age thing. I am way older than you and i am able to handle my 228 just fine. You have a long time to go before you get relieved from being skipper. steve

    First boat

You should watch a bunch of videos on youtube for the GW215 - Some show boat features and others show action on the water. They are fun to watch and and you will learn a lot. steve
