New running gear on trailer ...a successful day

New running gear on trailer ...a successful day

Oh, and I like the isolation blocks on the galvanized hangers above your aluminum I-Beams. Was that your add-on or did the trailer come like that? That's one of the reasons I'm replacing crossmembers is because the builder didn't use them on mine when they attached bunk brackets. Luckily...

    Performance Trailer Rebuild in Progress

Hey Bob, Thanks for the reply. I already got the integrated hub/rotors on, oh well. I can just carry an extra though. My axles have removable spindles and I have an extra one of those too. Maybe that'll be enough preventative overkill to avoid problems... Anyway, your offer on the trailer...

    Performance Trailer Rebuild in Progress

Thank you sir, Yep, agree with doing the best I can with the trailer. I've had boats for 50+ years, but haven't needed to trailer quite as much as I do now. Between the house on the NC coast, the house in GA and the inlaw's place in FL. My new-to-me 2006 228G just calls to be taken on many...

    Performance Trailer Rebuild in Progress

Thank you sir, Yep, I'm sorta leaning towards replacing as it was, even though I've found a couple failures reported due to the way they mount the crossmember and because they drill the six holes in the bottom of the crossmember and only use the top surface for attachment. It looks like they...

    Performance Trailer Rebuild in Progress

Hey Bob, John, Dave, and anyone else familiar with trailer issues, As some of you know, I'm in the process of getting my 2006 228G Seafarer in shape. While I had it in the shop for some rather minor touch-ups, I decided to do a "little" trailer work. I didn't want my polished up and...

    Trailer running gear upgrade

Hey Bob, Just ordered the two new integrated hub torsion axles with Kodiak stainless calipers and ceramic pads with stainless backs. Went ahead and got all new lines too while I'm at it. I got the order in around noon today, so it may be Monday before I get it delivered, possibly tomorrow...

Getting Ready To Splash, My Routine, Tips and Rant...

Hey John, When I checked my fuel tank inspection ports, it didn't look like the previous owner had ever cleaned or flushed the area at all. I have made a slight attempt at cleaning/flushing the area, but I do need to pull the deck plates and do a full inspection and cleaning. I have used ZEP...

Finally, a Grady White to call mine.

Hey John, Thanks for the update. Yep, Grady went to the stainless through hulls but for some reason the fish box drain on mine was installed chrome over bronze and it has corroded somewhat. I think my manual shows the stainless, I'll check again, but if you have the numbers I'd appreciate it...

Finally, a Grady White to call mine.

Hey John! Congrats again! I still haven't got my 228 in the water yet, but getting close. I had the engine cowling repainted and the gelcoat touch-up completed. I should be able to pick her up in a couple days. I want to replace both seacocks in the aft bilge. The washdown and the livewell...
