Well this isn't that bad of a project IF you have access to an air compressor. Go to rexpeg fabrics, sailrite or perfect fit mcdonald for the fabric you decide on. It's usually called "hull liner" . Here's just one of several how to video's...

    96 232 tilt helm replacement

My '95 265 started leaking last fall. Right after I made my own replacement bushing.( not related) It was the front seal. I sent the helm to a seastar repair shop and they flushed it and replaced the seal. I also replaced the copper lines with the braided plastic tubing. $285 for the helm work...

Confusion: Fuel Tank and Fuel Pump on Adventure 208

That T fitting was probably your problem. That extra hose running into an empty tank (that had to be vented) was causing your air leak. I would guess that at around 1/2 tank the suction required to draw up the fuel overcame the resistance in the unused spare tank. Don't you love gremlins...

    Headliner replacement

Here is where I get my headliner and all other fabrics. http://www.rexpeggfabrics.com/index.php ... dliner|108 This is the best adhesive I have ever used. It won't release with heat nor will it turn to powder like the factory stuff. Pour it in a cheap spray gun and go for it. When done just...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

Well, the weather warmed up a bit and winds died down so I hit the edges with some 80 grit to smooth out and sprayed them. Were in our new house and my garage has stained concrete floors. My painting days are numbered as we are in a high end neighborhood. Haaaa, One neighbor, a doctor was...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

With the arrival of the ORCA clear additive,.. I was able to gel the rest of the hatches. The weather was right at freezing and 40 mph winds for the week so I just rolled on four coats. I went with 30% clear in the mix. Now I have enough thickness to wet sand and polish the edges. I'll get some...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

I started to spray out the texture but it was so windy that day it wasn't working out. I reverted to another technique to get a nice texture. I masked around the edge and rolled on a heavy coat of gel coat. As it starts to set up I lightly run the roller over the top to increase the stipple...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

The main stringers are fine. I make sure any penetrations in the fiberglass skin don't go into the core material. I agree, epoxy with some filler works good as a backer behind screw holes. I had some extra gelcoat laying around so I brushed it on the new glass mainly to get rid of it...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

I decided to re- core the rear deck floor panels while I had my fiberglass supplies out. They were soft and flexed when you walked on them. The main panel weighed around 150#. I struggled just getting it out of the boat and on the table. I used my 4" angle grinder with a metal cut off wheel...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

That's what keeps it fun. Don't make it a profession. You don't see too many old fiberglass guys and painters. I trimmed the edges and pulled the parts then drilled and tapped the hinge holes. I ran out and test fit the pieces and they fit perfect. I decided to build these new...

    Building new hatches/ transom door

Hi guys. New to the forums. Last Fall I acquired a 26' islander that was severely neglected. The price was right ($5000.00) so I bit!! This was a "as is where is" deal. Both motors needed midsections and lower unit cases due to electrolysis but only had 500 hrs. on them so that was a plus...

Help identifying mystery parts on my newly acquired 26 Isla

Re: Help identifying mystery parts on my newly acquired 26 I Thanks Dennis. I took the picture and uploaded to tinypic from my I phone. My phone was upright when I took the picture. Tiny Pic shows it upright, but when I put the link on the post, some of the picts turn sideways. I looked up...

Help identifying mystery parts on my newly acquired 26 Isla

Re: Help identifying mystery parts on my newly acquired 26 I #2 I'll have to get a better picture. It's a cast piece that is just bolted on the roof. No hole thru the middle. Since the black tubes aren't anything important, they have been removed. I may make a partial rear deck cover...

Help identifying mystery parts on my newly acquired 26 Isla

Hi guys. I got this Grady from an estate sale "so to speak", so I can't ask the old owner what these are for. Sorry for the sideways pictures. Tinypic is doing it. :bang #1 #2 This is on the front of the roof. #3 There is one on each rod holder. #4 I'm sure this was for a rear...

Does the Yamaha Speed gauge accept two fuel tanks?

The guy was a carpenter and hauled building materials to the islands. He also charter fished lightly. I was amazed at the amount of putty they put in the corners of the hatch molds between the gelcoat and actual fiberglass. I understand the putty is a corner cutting method (literally) so the...

Does the Yamaha Speed gauge accept two fuel tanks?

I was searching last night and found the pdf manual for the gauges. The pink w/ black tracer is for the aux. tank. The bar graph will split into two graphs when hooked up.
