OK, I have to tell the truth!

I don't worry about the fuel sitting in my tank. I know what it is and can remove it if necessary. Purchased fuel is where the problem lies. Food for human consumption is dated extensively and regulated. But the date of food in fuel is not; that's where the potential for mechanical disaster...

Changing engines on a GW Gulfstream

This is really thinking outside the box. I think it's a great idea and probably a first of it's kind! Keep us posted as you progress.

    Radar

I've got the Lowrance 3G radar with chart overlay on an HDS-8. I'll put it this way, my BR24 went out about 1 1/2 years ago and I immediately purchased the 3G. I just needed a reason to upgrade and now have the repaired unit for a back up. The obvious uses are during rain, fog and night but I...

    Trailer Guide Poles

Agree setting up a trailer isn't easy but I'll never have a trailer without guide posts; the guide post provide a reference for coming in and visual of trailer depth. Maybe double up a couple posts in each side since she's so big? Either way, I always set my trailers up so it's very easy to...

Mounting kicker to 228 seafarer with swimplatform

Pete, thanks for the information. Do you have a closer picture detailing the bracket on top of the swim platform? Also what's the top speed with the T8?

Looking at Grady 208 or 226

208, 226, 228 are all great boats for fishing with friends or going alone! Never had a problem handling my 228 alone at all.

Trying to decide what path to take. Older Grady or New CC

Re: Trying to decide what path to take. Older Grady or New C I like the 5 year old boat search idea but you really need to determine which style boat will best fit your needs. A CC and WA are so different that it tells me you haven't researched enough. I would continue reading until there is...

    New Grady 228 owner

Just my opinion but I think you modified out of sequence. Without reference points, how do you know what you did improved or worsened performance?

    New Grady 228 owner

I was just reading about different tab size options several weeks ago. What is the lowest planing speed with your current set up? And most efficient cruise?

    New Grady 228 owner

Yes, Grady has it in the manual. The SV2 hull is variable meaning there are no 2 places where the deadrise is the same. So if the tabs aren't set properly, the advantage of the sharp bow entry isn't realized. Always be aware though that they have to be used correctly or the bow could be...

    New Grady 228 owner

Well, with a WA you have top forward weight that isn't on a CC. With a WA, you're sitting further forward than a CC. Step further back in a WA and you'll feel a similar ride. Not trying to argue but they're different. There isn't a small boat in true 2 foot quartering seas that won't get you...

    New Grady 228 owner

L.R., you can't compare a CC to a WA for ride. 2 different animals due to a number of factors; you'll see this posted from time to time but increase the deadrise and you'll get a better ride; decrease deadrise and you'll get a more stable platform. It's really physics more than anything else...

    M y Wedge Transom Saver's?

Read your manual for your motor, I know on my F250TXR it specifically says not to use the built in support as it's not strong enough for trailering. These motors are exceptionally heavy and is why I do use the my wedge device. I also use the steering lock supports as well.

    Seafarer 228 Lake Erie trolling

I think you're good to go for slow trolling. I'm working on mine for the next few months really detailing everything so won't be going out. But in the spring, I'll throw 120 lbs of sandbags back there to test weight. If it works as I expect, I'll probably have a local fabricator build a...

    grady 228 aux fuel tank

This and seasick's confirmation illustrates some misconception on ethanol fuel problems. Air gets in (and out) continuously through the vent line, not the fuel cap although they also have a very small vent as well. My yard equipment was damaged by phase separated ethanol fuel; my boat would...

    grady 228 aux fuel tank

seasick, you can see condensation science on a poorly insulated window of a house. Maybe even observe rotted wood around old windows from that same condensation. I'm not beating you up or trying to argue but it does happen inside tanks and should be considered to avoid phase separation of...

    Seafarer 228 Lake Erie trolling

Here's a post I started a couple years ago; http://www.greatgrady.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19302. I have just begun re-visting the subject myself since retiring.....never knew retirement would be so busy and time consuming! ; ) I think the general consensus is 5-8 mph on a good day but...
