    Water coming in scuppers

I recently moved my batteries to the bow in preperation for a new engine. Boats still at the shop so haven't tried it out yet. Was more of a pain than I thought and 2awg wires along cost $400. Had to also buy a hydaulic crimper and crimps for the cables...took a lot of work to get it done. Also...

    Wiper motor replacement

I was told by Wexco that: 4R1.12.R110D crosses to the WWF12C16 However, I am still not able to find the degree of swing or the shaft length so haven't been able to purcahse a replacement motor. I don't leave near my boat which is at the shop getting a new engine so I'm not able to remove a...

    228G Windshield Motor Replacement

TIme to replace my windshield motors on my 1994 228G and wondering what the writing means on these motors. Trying to find out the specs on these motors such as degree of swing and shaft length. These wiper motors have never parked, they just stop wherever they are when I turn the switch off so...

New motor Arriving: Is my Engine Mount Good?

Pulled the hatch off and sucked about 1 gallon of water out from inside. If water gets in, how is it supposed to drain? Anyone know the screw size/length that holds the hatch on? Somehow lost one and now the boat is at the yard for a new engine so can't run out to check. Also not sure what a...

    Mounting Batteries in Bow

Since I'm getting a new heavier motor I decided now is the time to move the batteries and see how she rides. Worst case it will be easy to move them back. Moved the battery switch into the botton left of the cabin and added a new 40A fuse for the aux 12V power. Ignore the mess of wiring that...

New motor Arriving: Is my Engine Mount Good?

I wont be able to get to my boat until this weekend and it's going to the shop Monday. Is there a Part number for that 0-ring so I can just buy one to replace it when I open the inspection cover? I called Grady White but they didn't have the original or know what to suggest.

New motor Arriving: Is my Engine Mount Good?

Thanks, I haven't checked into the inspection cap but I will next weekend (my boat is 2 hours from me). I wanted to open it but was expecting after I removed the screws that it would be glued on with silicone or some type of marine sealant. There are two bolts from the engine mount that I assume...

New motor Arriving: Is my Engine Mount Good?

Took my 2006 mercuary optimax engine off my 1994 Grady White seafarer 228G this weekend and the paint on the motor mount looks delaminated. I'm bringing my boat to the dealer to have a new engine installed in a week. What can I do to confirm that my engine mount is not rotted and if it is, what...

Best way to Remove Reserve Oil Tank?

Looks like it but even with the covers off it won't come out. Shame because I'd clean it up and resell it online but I think if I pump all the oil out I might be able to only cut the handle off and be able to get it out but should know after this weekend :) Will post results!

    Mounting Batteries in Bow

Considering moving my batteries to the bow of my 1994 seafarer 228G since I'm repowering with a Yamaha F250XSB motor which is a bit heavier at 610lbs compared to my previous Mercuary optimax 200xl at 517lbs. I weight tested it by adding sand bags to my engine and it's definitely sitting lower...

Best way to Remove Reserve Oil Tank?

Switching from 2 stroke to a 4 stroke so no longer need my oil reserve tank. However, the tank is too large to come out no matter the orientation and have even tried it without covers. I assume they put it in when the livewell was out but I don't want to go down that rabbit hole. Any suggestions...

    228G Engine Mount Compatibility?

Have a 1994 Grady White Seafarer 228g that has a 2006 Mercury 200XL but it recently died. I'm repowering with a new Yamaha F250 and considering mounting it myself to save money. Is the motor mount of my grady standardardized so I can just bolt on my new Yamaha or is it possible I'll need to...

    Repower Options: Seafarer 228G

That would be a good location but I will have to think about if I want my batteries in the same area as the gas tank with poential fumes and sparks. Thinking they are seperate for a reason and it's all one big empty space just forward of the 93g tank but you make good points and I appreciate the...

    Repower Options: Seafarer 228G

That's a brilliant idea, thanks for the suggestion! Really didn't want to move the scupper and livewell drain because I'd probably have to remove the livewell to get back there. As long as I choose the right gauge of wire and secure the batteries I think moving them forward should be fine. I'll...
