About to install simrad autopilot on my boat with precision 9 compass. Where are people mounting the compass? Thanks in advance!

behind the two drawer unit in the cabin. puts it right under the captain's feet. away from pumps.
Don't put ferrous items (tools) in the drawers.

Let us know how the commissioning goes. I have simard as well but have heard they can be finicky to hold a line.
I agree with the suggested compass location. It should be low near center line unless you get the HS 75 which can be mounted anywhere.
My 265 had a Simrad AP in the same location. the pump was behind the drawers to the left. The compass was mounted in the same compartment but higher up on the forward bulkhead. The compass was more easily accessible by removing the deck plate at the helm. The computer was mounted in the helm electronic box.
