Bow mount trolling motor on a fisherman 180

All I can say is Grady BETTER start including a trolling motor pre-rig as an option on new models, not just the Coastal Explorer models. Just about everybody these days has a GPS trolling motor. It's a complete game changer. I have a 236 Fisherman. I had a Rhodan last summer, but just changed...

Trolling motor orientation - Fisherman 216

I am installing a Garmin 75" trolling motor on my Fisherman 216. I would sure appreciate any opinions about the mock-up I did below that shows how the orientation places the shaft over the anchor locker. This is my planned installation unless I learn of a better way to tackle it. I have...

Lithium battery size for trolling motor

I am installing a 75" Garmin Force Kraken trolling motor on my Fisherman 216. My plan is to go with a 36v lithium battery and I'm trying to determine if I can get away with the 60 Ah vs the 110 Ah battery. The main feature that I will use the trolling motor for is anchoring over reefs while...

Yamaha Helm Master EX Single Engine

...conditions, and how the boat is used. I hear you on fishing by yourself, think it will be great for that. For fishing, an electric trolling motor might be more useful for some situations - quieter for sure. I’d like to have the full suite EX but with a low hour mechanical F200 it’s not...

180 Sportsman, what prop to get?

...to have a lot of fuel on board. Now I usually run it with less than 20 gallons so that is probably 200lb difference. I also have a trolling motor with 2 batteries so that add another 150 or so. The other day I got her up to 6000 rpm at 38.5 mph so I am pretty happy with that. If I lose some...

Trolling motor install on 282 Sailfish

Yes I recently had it done on my Sailfish, I had the bow mount strengthened, we adapted the bow rail to allow the trolling motor to raise up and lower. Now the stainless steel rail can open and close. The only thing I have left to do is to have a custom clip made to insert where the rail locks...

    Walk Around Bow Rail

I agree with SeanC - at 6" the rail is functionally useless and may be a trip hazard. Leave it be and put a "gate" for trolling motor or eliminate it all-together. Mine is intact. I think it's a useful safety feature that also looks good on my boat.

    Walk Around Bow Rail

...eliminate or help eliminate rails hitting while docking as well as provide for no need to provide a gate at the bow sprit given I am mounting a trolling motor? We seldom fish or ride at the bow. Concern is astetics? Is there a GW Model or other boat model similar to the Explorer with low...

Bow mount trolling motor on a fisherman 180

...would it be too long when stored? I'm fishing in LI sound and during blackfish season, when this would get the most use, we can be in a 1-2ft chop often. I once fished next to guy whose trolling motor was popping out every 8-10 seconds, really annoying. Is that a freshwater tank in the console?

Bow mount trolling motor on a fisherman 180

...for your motor. This one is suspect(see below). Sometimes I run with a tether on my motor just in case. I almost never remove my trolling motor so I will probably switch to a thick piece of starboard, aluminum or the like. When I get the chance I would also like to switch to lithium...

    Trolling motor on 271 Canyon

I fish on a 271 frequently and we have no problem trolling for salmon or halibut or bluefin with the main engines (usually 1 at a time). He has twin 300s. I'm guessing the electric motor is to hold you in place by oil rigs or something?

    Trolling motor on 271 Canyon

Has anybody ever put a trolling motor on this model? Is it awkward since it is a deep V boat? I the shaft long, so long that it's a pain to stowe? If someone had picture to post too :)

Bow mount trolling motor on a fisherman 180

I am following this as I'd like to install on my 2019 Fisherman 216. I'm particularly interested in what you think of the Garmin trolling motor. I'm thinking of buying the same as I would really like the integration with my Garmin MFD. Installing on the 216 may not be as challenging as the...

    1999 Grady 272 Transom

That's unfortunate. I'd try to take it to small claims court and get your money back if possible. Or, if the transaction was done digitally through Venmo, PayPal a credit card or something similar, I'd obviously try and dispute the charges. I would also shop around on the east coast but I avoid...

    1999 Grady 272 Transom

Sounds like it's all for the best that you are walking away from this one, which is frustrating as I've been in this position before to where you pay a surveyor to go out and inspect a boat but it's not in the condition it was advertised as being in. It's also quite infuriating that you are...

    1999 Grady 272 Transom

...we discussed was $60K but he will now come down to $54K and remove some items that were initially on the boat (outriggers and Rhodan trolling motor). So it is not really that attractive. The surveyor was a bit vague and to be honest it was a frustrating experience at times because some things...
