Groco pump -simple macerator retrofit- 265 Express

My boat is a 92 and in tank macerator and sensors did not work. I think it was 800$ for a new pump. Pulled the pump and put a small bilge pump in its place. Used a small section of pcv and adapters to original hose. Switched the in tank pump 12v supply at the cabin bulkhead panel. It is a...

    Dometic optimus all electric steering

Interesting project. I have the mechanical hydraulic steering and mechanical throttle on my Zukes 250's. Do have a Raymarine EV 150 AP which Iike. Curious what cost and installation will be like. I think the EV 150 will tie in if wanted to.

    Sea star hydraulic hose replacement

We replaced the copper tube in my boat after a leak. Used premade hoses which were to long and now have a coil of hose in the bilge. If I were to do it again I would use steering hose with no fittings and after pulling and getting length right put on Parker field replaceable fittings, like the...

What have you done to your Grady lately?

So after a few years of resisting I put a cooler/fish box in the cockpit. The 280 Marlin does not have a fish box and if you have live bait in the livewell there is no place to put fish. The starboard base is bolted to the fighting chair mounting plate and the plano box holder was made from...

    Battery warning

Back when it was a starting battery and a Humingbird flasher who cared. If need be you could start with the pull rope and get home. Today with auto pilot pumps, windlass, bow thrusters, etc... if I see 11.5v I am looking for a problem before it gets out of hand.

    Battery warning

After a somewhat similar situation with auto pilot pump draining house bank secondary to aux wires on OX66 not charging. I put a dedicated voltmeter on each start batt and house bank. This lets you know where you are more reliably and tells you if you are charging while running.

    Battery Charger

Not quite on subject, but close. We have a 48v golf cart which has a string of 6 8v batteries in series. I bought a Schauer 48v maintainer and wired it up to the cart to maintain while gone for extended periods and to top off if batteries have minor discharge. Came back home after 6 weeks to...

One year later and things do not seem right

So looking at my hull/transom it appears to be quite flat at the rear 1/3 at least. It is difficult to check with level as boat is on a lift with bow up for drainage. To the naked eye seems to be flat.

One year later and things do not seem right

ok got under the boat. 52 in from transom step edge to front hub of prop. Pics show level of av plate intersection with transom at the step. The top of the angle alum. is approx 3.5 inches from bottom of transom. Av plate checked with a level and is level. Hub is 4.3 ft from transom, thus...

One year later and things do not seem right

This stepped transom thing is throwing me for a loop. Are you saying line the av plate even with the hull bottom before the step and then raise it one inch for every foot length of the step. Thus the av plate may or may not set level with the transom at the end of the step.

One year later and things do not seem right

It has been 1 yr since repowered with 2 df250 Suzuki on my 280 Marlin. Engines run fine, no problems there. Initial props from dealer were 3x16x21. Max rpm was 5200 wot, 40-42 mph. Went to 3x16x18.5 the Suzuki rec for my boat and now get 5880-5900 rpm and 40 mph. Cruise at 4100-4200 rpm 29...

    PSA: check your anchor bolt

HA HA almost happened to me. Running at 30mph noticed shackle bolt was almost out. Do not want to even think of what happens when anchor slips off pulpit at 30 mph! Retired with about a half mile of 18ga SS cerclage wire (fracture repair). I now have a half mile minus 6 inches.

265 not so fresh water tank

Could not imagine not having fresh water on the boat. Always washing my hands in the cockpit sink and often attach a hose for a quick rinse off shower on a hot day or when I have to go swimming to get line out of the props (twice!). Would I drink it no never but that's not what it is there...
