    Kicker motors

Grunt, That set-up is what I want to do on my 205 Tournament. May I ask what the brand name of the bracket is? I am repowering right now and once I splash the boat I will see if I have enough freeboard below the deck drain through hulls to allow the extra weight.

    Need A Cooler?

I don't know what RTIC is, but if they have stuff that shines the "ridiculous light" on Yeti then that's good.

    Which Port-a-potti

Thanks Dennis, I found what I needed. I checked out the Dometic site and figured out that it is the 964 model that will fit in the existing brackets. Thanks for your help.

    Which Port-a-potti

When we bought our boat the port-a-potti was missing. In looking at the ads to purchase one I see there are different sizes. In looking at pictures of boats on Boat Trader I have seen pictures showing the Dometic brand but that is as close as I got. There is a stainless steel bracket in the boat...

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

Thanks Chris. My boat had the round digital gauges from 2004. They are still good and will work with the new engine the salesman said. The down side is that, according to him, the hour meter is not resetable so will read 209 hrs when we hook up the new motor. I would like to have the Command...

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

It's already gone. A guy offered me $2K for it "as is" and I took him up on it.

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

This guy said the F250 mechanical was 800 bucks more and the command link gauges are 900bucks. I didn't ask about the electric model.

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

It was $18,029 with mechanical controls and keeping my same gauges.

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

We went to Ingman Marine yesterday and pulled the trigger on a new 4.2 liter Yamaha 225. Supposed to get it rigged the week after Thanks giving. First brand new motor for me ever!

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

Funny you should say that Chris. Yesterday my wife and I went to the Port Myers boat show and met Gary Ingman and he gave us the info to contact KG. I guess repowering is his main job. Their shop is only about 15 miles south of me so it's a good fit for future work too. Thanks for the vote of...

    outboard height

We have settled on the 4cyl. F200 Yamaha and today we went to the Fort Myers boat show to check things out. We ran into the owner of a dealer with 5 locations and the main store is only about 15 miles from us. He said he has a guy that does nothing but repower sales and a crew for the rigging...

    outboard height

Trapper, I hate to derail your discussion on mounting height but I have a quick question. I have a 205 tournament and am thinking the 4 cyl. F200 is a good fit. I was wondering if you find the power acceptable and what you are finding for WOT speed and best cruise? Also, you have the "XB" model...

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

Thanks Ky Grady, I will check that out.

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

I had the motor advertised locally on craigslist for $3k. I was getting no interest so was starting to plan on repairing it. I had located a machine shop and a welder and was to drop it off at the welder the next day when a guy called and offered me $2k. Now he's got the problem and I get to go...

Water spots too much Iron in water

Have you tried straight white cleaning vinegar? Don't dilute. CLR also cuts mineral spots. Watch the run-off on your aluminum.

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

Thanks for that vote of confidence in the rebuild process. I know in the heavy equipment world that I worked in for many decades we repaired some things that were much more "long gone" than this little low-pressure joint. If you look at the first picture of this thread you will see some sand...

Odd you mention that cause that's exactly the way I'm leaning. I'm going to talk to a machinist today and depending on his reaction I will decide on whether to fix this or junk it. I have it listed "as is" on craigslist and have only got one nibble so there is not much value there on the open...

Boat Surveyor for Punta Gorda to Cape Coral, FL Area

I have had both of these guys survey boats and either one will do a good job. Not sure if one guy is still in Punta Gorda anymore as it's been several years.

    Corrosion of F225 engine block

These are pictures of the exhaust mating surface of the block on my 2004 Yamaha F225. I talked to one guy near where I live and he claims he can have it welded and machined. What do you guys think. I am skeptical because I don't read about this being done. This situation breaks my heart because...

Thanks for that info Legend. At this late date in the 225 corrosion saga, I just wonder if there are any powerheads around that would be worth installing. Moving all the externals to a new bare block seems impractical. There are sooo many components. Still working on it...... John
