New Side curtains- no snaps installed - how hard a job

Thanks Seasick, A HUGE drawback living in the sticks is the nearest canvas guy is either in Greenville, SC or down near Atlanta - in short an hour and half or more away. I can sort of gauge the tightness but I am no expert. I can go get a snap tool from Joannes Fabric that is relatively easy to...

New Side curtains- no snaps installed - how hard a job

My new stratoglass curtains arrived from A and J Canvas and they sure are purty. However, when I sent them the originals they made when I bought the boat new I assumed the snaps would be installed as all the snaps lined up. I was wrong. So my question is how hard of job is it to punch the...

    Running with Collapsible Outriggers

These are the 1 1/8 poles. I think I will run with them tucked away and troll only with them. I suspect my hard top may not like it. I used their backing plates and not the set up with compression washers and all. I appreciate your input.

    Running with Collapsible Outriggers

Hey Guys: I finally did it. I bought some 15 foot Taco collapsible outriggers and I am using their Grand Slam 170 mounts. I installed them to my hardtop with their backing plates and so forth. I have a question. When running out to the where ever to fish, can I run with the outriggers...

help me Tab Man you are my only hope

LR. My batteries are on the port side in the stern. Depending on how the boat is loaded in terms of the crew I tend to run with the port tab deployed more than starboard on the lake for load induced list, but on the ocean both get used especially in head seas. My starboard switch is fine.

Busted for riding on the bow

I have heard of this before and I let my kids sit up there while underway in calm waters or we toss a be a bag uo there and somebody often naps while trolling. I have been told by fellow boaters here in NC and Fla if the LEO sees kids in particular hanging their feet over or dangling their...

how often do you run WOT

MagicBill, I have had a handful of calm days in June and more in July especially in the morning where you could water ski to the stream and back. One summer I was fishing in 1500 feet of water along a weedline and up comes a dude in a bass boat. That was how calm and flat it was plus it was...

    Trailer Brake Maintence

Brian, while a bigger truck helps stopping the trailer, by law in many states boat trailers are required to have brakes on trailers/boats above 3,500 pounds. So removing them is not advisable especially if one get s into an accident. If you are at fault and you remove brakes you could be facing...

    Evinrude G2's / Marlin 300....Splash day!

What I would like to see is how they look as well. I admittedly did not go to you tube. That instrument display os nice. Before owning multiple Yammaha motors I have always been a fan of the rude. It was what my dad had on his boat. Enjoy your new motors for a long time. Just went to the...

how often do you run WOT

Mboyat, When the lake is glass or when I am in the Keys and air is still and Hawk Channel barely has a ripple, l let the boat get up there in speed. You are right it is like riding on air.. i think my motor has maybe 10 hours max of WOT time out of nearly 750 hours. I bet it is less.

how often do you run WOT

I participated in a prop thread here on a fellow 228 owner. He propped his boat for max speed at WOT. It got me thinking. In saltwater use more than half the time my motor use is for trolling speeds for dolohin and tuna. Freshwater I cruise and do water sports. I rarely take her up to 6,000...

Need help from older model 330 owners

JP, I used barrel bolts on my 192 transom jump seats that were hinged. The screws stripped out from kids pushing down on the seat back door on the swim ladder side. They worked ok but I had to build up the backside some more. I think the dowl option is a great way to go.

    opinion on canvas color

My brother use to profess engineering at EDU ( he now professes engineering at Auburn) and I have taken my boat there before for rear curtains. Excellent folks. The stratoglass from what Jill said there was worth the extra shekles. I will be sending my curtians in via ups ground. The stamoid...

    opinion on canvas color

I am likely going to have A and J canvas in Vanceboro make new side curtains for the boat. I do like the Navy blue color but I also like the almond white color too. The blue hides dirt and mildew better than the white color. However, the white color has a classic look to it. Anybody with the...
