    GemLux Deluxe Outrigger Bases

Console bubble painted. Looks good. Two front windows eliminated. Painted down to the diamond non-skid. May save the non-skid - it looks pretty good. Color match to faded Grady gelcoat is very good. No picture for now. Hull primed. Sanding out and painting tomorrow. My friends say it looks like...

    GemLux Deluxe Outrigger Bases

It's been a busy summer for projects on "Evil Princess" (named after my daughter). Things are coming together over the next few weeks. Today I painted the console "bubble" on the 268 Islander walk around. AwlCraft 2000 Off-white Revisited. I would call it "Faded Grady Off-White 1997". Three...

    Washdown pump

Most of the washdown pumps have a microswitch in them that goes bad. If its anything else wrong with the pump install a new one - same make/model. Switching pump is a trap as nothing lines up, hoses may be different, etc. As you said in your post - getting to the pump is the hard part...

Refrigerator - AC Only or AC & Battery

Alway run my fridge off 12 VDC when off the dock. The Yamaha alternators deliver a lot of power even at trolling speeds. Also my fridge is on 12 VDC all the time at the dock on my Promariner Pro Sport 20 charger. I did include a reference to 12 VDC/120 VAC conversion above so you can run the...

    The New Guy

I drain tank and use air compressor to blow out the lines. Then use a gallon of antifreeze to tank. I pump the antifreeze out to and then use air to blow out the lines again. No water heater in my boat. If you have one you need a bypass hose. Clogged filter if you have one is a common problem...

    209 nav lights

Put a voltmeter on it to determine positive lead. Meter will read +12 volts with red meter lead on positive terminal. Otherwise a -12 volts reading is reversed - swap leads. LEDs, being diodes, will only allow current to flow in one direction. And when there's no current-flow, there's no light...

Agreed. Wash and brush teeth with it but cook and drink bottled water.

    The New Guy

At least on my boat you can't. Just fill it up!

    Help w/ the Head .

Compared to larger boats I deal with the GW's are at very low risk of sinking from a thru hull. My surveyor tells me most small boats sink in the owners driveway due to leaving drain plug in and not keeping the batteries charged! The Islander only has 4 thru hulls below the waterline. Head...

    Help w/ the Head .

Technically YES. No y-valve on the 268 Islander. You can wire it shut or if you are nice to the Coast Guard and appear genuine maybe a ty-wrap will do. At least close it! In 25 years of boating in NJ and FL I have never been boarded.

    Help w/ the Head .

By law you should have the output valve wired closed. I don't and risk a fine even though I would never pump out inshore. Input side is legal to be open all the time.

    floor hatch

Hatch is likely waterlogged and needs to be rebuilt. Common problem.

    Help w/ the Head .

Same setup as my 1997 268 Islander. Either the water flow from the input seacock isn't flowing or there is a valve problem in the head hand pump. There is a rebuild kit for the head pump. I have never had the hose off or taken the pump apart. I would start by trying to find out if the hose is...

    Selling

Sorry to hear about your boat. So much depends on condition. Can't tell anything from your "ad" above. Where are the pictures and the story? Boat Trader and Facebook Marketplace. Good luck.

    floor hatch

First of all do you have one or two tanks? I see two fuel fills. If you pull the access plates on the hatch you will know for sure if you have one or two tanks. Technically the area under the hatch is a fuel compartment. It isolates the fuel tanks from the bilge, is fire-stopped around all the...

    Replacement Live Bait Pump

That wire was part of the pump. It must be spliced somewhere. Color codes and wire type not GW.

Freedom 307 hardtop wiring for Sirius Antenna

I mounted my SIRIUS antenna inside the boat (underneath fiberglass) along the port side as far forward as I can get it. The FUSION unit is on the same side so the antenna run is easy. Reception is good. SIRIUS reception is never perfect especially in cars. At the dock or on the trailer I have...
