    solar juice

Not having to launch and haul with crowds waiting for the ramp will be such a nice change. The down side is that over time, you may forget the little tricks you learned when hauling or launching:) Enjoy the summer and your new 'home'

    Insurance question

I looked at my Progressive documents and can't find any mention of layup period. It could be there buried in the mumbo-jumbo language. I will have to ask.

    Steering wheel replacement

The original post is 8 years old. No wonder I can't remember responding:)

    solar juice

As mentioned and from my own experience, charged batteries that do not have constant loads, will stay fairly well charged for a long time. In fact I have not had the need to charge my batteries on my 208 before starting the motor in the spring after the winter layup. The batteries are not on any...

89 overnighter - slight listing to starboard

I doubt that blisters are the cause of the list. The fact that cleaning/removing the paint made the blisters disappear tell me that the 'blisters' were only in the gel coat or weren't osmosis blisters at all. Blisters don't mean that the hull is soaked either and you would need to have a lot of...

    Leak in corner of windshield

Same thing on my 208, shrinking weather-stripping. The black silicone applied on the outside will usually fix the problem depending on how big a gap there is. If you have shrinkage in one corner, you probably have it in other corners or joints.

    Moving motor flusher

The engine flush tube has a 'garden' like thread or hose barb. The thread is similar to regular NPT fittings but not exactly identical. Hose fittings don't the same taper as pipe fittings do. In addition, pipe fittings don't have the smooth rounded over end edge and therefore the rubber washers...

    Moving motor flusher

In he future you should use bronze, not brass. Marine grade plastic fittings would also work.

    Yamaha Tachs

What the gauges display depends on the motors and the model of the gauge. For a lot of older gauges and motors ( 2 stroke), the oil and temp display is only for alarms and not actual values (battery will show volts but don't bet your life on its accuracy:)). So the first questions are motor...

You are going to have to raise the water line for the bottom paint

    throttle and shift cables

Are both functions very stiff? To check, press and hold the shift override button and move the control handle . If it is still as stiff as before, the shift may be fine. There is a tension adjuster screws but note that it affect the entire motion of the handle. If the handle moves easily between...

HPDI 200 - how smooth should it run at low RPM?

Have you checked the oil pump linkage adjustment? Excess oil will also cause carbon buildup. Also check that you are running the correct spark plugs.( how do they look?) Also research the issue with that spool that connects the chamber to the O2 sensor. Some years ago, a new version was made...

    Underwater Lights - sealing holes

As long as the holes are no bigger than 1/4 inch, your approach will be fine. Since the old holes will be bottom painted, the color is not important. Even MarineTex will work. Your approach to the new holes is good but you may want a thinner/ more watery epoxy mix to coat the sides of the...

    Solution....Grady Mold in Caulk

    Solution....Grady Mold in Caulk

If the mold is surface mold, it can be cleaned but if it is deeper into the caulk, you may not be able to clean it or it may clean up but mold will come back quickly. There are some decent mold cleaning products but check that they won't harm your fiberglass or vinyl . I've had good luck with...

    Yamaha XO 66 250 issue

Who wudda thunk? If the vent were blocked completely or to a point, I would expect the primer bulb to get soft or even collapse when running. I don't know if that was checked. If it was a case of too much back pressure due to a somewhat blocked vent, then the vent hose must have a section that...

    Cover for Fresh Water Shower

If it is the plastic Scanvik cover, I see them in my marine parts stores. If the recessed base is 'tired', you may want to replace the cup and lid. Before doing that, make sure you can remove the spray head from the hose. Sometimes the threads fuse together...

Salt Away or Water Displacement 40

I forgot to mention that the corrosion that occurs on the inside of parts like axles and cross members is the stuff that can eat the trailer form the inside out and it is hard to get to salt deposits in those parts. The longer the trailer sits after dunking, the more likely it is that salt will...
