Along the lines of what was mentioned above, I'm thinking there is something non-stock added/modded under the helm or in front of the steering wheel. Look around for anything that seems to be an add-on and inspect the hardware that was used. Because you're dealing with a used boat, you're also...
Just curious, how can you tell it's binding up since you can't see it? But, you can counter that by turning the cap backwards a turn or two, first. But, you do know that it's not like a pearl necklace where the beads are strung on a string, right? All of the beads are connected to each other...
Is it a Perko cap? Actually, whether it's Perko or not (probably is, though) doesn't matter. But check with Perko to see if they offer that by itself or as a kit with the cap. Given your location, I would imagine that you can probably source this locally by calling or stopping by a local...
Did you actually set the windlass up there and test/simulate the new angle that the rode would be at? Meaning, maybe it would still work just fine.
Otherwise... /\ /\ /\ That was my exact thought, too. Shim it. As long as raising it doesn't cause the anchor to hit the boat - but you can...
Mine is the same way.
If it was done correctly, there's nothing wrong with that conversion. All depends on how well it was done, though. There's no way for use to really assess it from where we are, though... ;)
You can buy it directly from SeaDek. Now, if they do have your template, it was made by another boat owner - it may or may not be correct. If they don't have the template, then order their templating kit and make it yourself. Then send it to them and after they digitize it, purchase the...
Well, that would be fantastic if they were a direct drain! I can't imagine that would have been something that was changed from '98 to '00. Brass tubes... not too worried about those - they're a piece of cake compared to some things! :)
Just starting to look for a little runabout for my parents. Found a 2000 192 Tournament. I've only seen it in pictures, so far. But I had a quick question regarding the cockpit scupper hoses... what's the access like? I know that can be a loaded questions, but with only seeing it so far in...
A J-hook setup could probably do it. But you'd have to keep the board low to avoid sight blocking problems... and I might be worried about a strong spray knocking into the board. Plus, the J-hooks would be pretty close together so there may be a tendency for the board to rock/tip forward or...
Being a "Gulfstream" is not really an important factor. However, the year of the boat could very well be. Geico might be your best choice if the boat is older - some companies won't insure older boats or the rate will be excessive. NBOA is another good company to look at.
It was probably just a matter of time for this. I think Texas put it into law a couple of years ago in response to the girl that was thrown from a boat and then struck by the propeller and killed. I think the accident happend at least a decade prior... shows how long some of this legal stuff...
I had always known it would decrease the strength (although in may applications, it's still plenty strong enough... especially given that it's stronger than the polyester or vinylester that our boats are made from). But I had no idea it was that much.
Thanks, Seasick!
One thing I would add to the info you found is in regard to heating the actual epoxy. While it can help to warm the epoxy by bringing it inside the house, heating it up too much can drastically affect the cure rate and it can start to "kick" too soon. Heating the material...
Interesting - never tried it that way, but it works. Another way is clicking the "find threads" drop-down button at the top.
Robert, are you using a computer or a phone? Sometimes, with a phone, if you hold it vertically, it limits what you can see.
3-stand is less expensive, 8-plait lays nicer.
However, line should be cleaned every so often. Doing that might very well solve your problem. You can do it on deck with some big buckets. Soak it in fresh water for a while, then rinse and repeat with some bio-friendly soap and agitate the...
Good question. The only emails I get are a notification if someone sends me a private message.
Edit: Looks like under account details... settings... email options... there is another link for more email preferences.
The mats with holes in them are durable as all get out and quite comfy. But, yeah, they will catch all kinds of crap in the holes. They're not "horrible" to clean as you can just dunk them in the water and the gelcoat deck washes easier/faster than the SeaDek. Timewise to clean... probably...
