    Starboard Source?

Ahem... ;) https://www.mcmaster.com/plastics/marine-grade-moisture-resistant-polyethylene-hdpe-/ "MESCO" should be explained, as most may not know who that is. MESCO is a large suppliler on the East coast, but you can't buy direct. That's the part Hookup was mentioning - you would have to get...

    Starboard Source?

Do they even make 1/16"? Try Mcmaster Carr - maybe Jamestown Distributors. Also look for just "HDPE" as opposed to the brand name of Starboard. Taco Metals makes this stuff, too.

    Edson Steering Knob

I ponied up for an Edson a few years ago... that thing is HEAVY! I don't mean that in a bad way - far from it - thick/solid SS... it feels like a 1957 Chevy's bumper compared to a 2021 Hyundai. Once you have it in your hand, the price makes sense. And a 50-year warranty to boot! I'd give...

    Shakespeare Mariner 8500 antenna

Just looked around on Shake's website. Where you rounding off in the measurements? It looks like it could be their 5399, which is indeed a really nice antenna.

    Shakespeare Mariner 8500 antenna

I have... but never seen one like that! You're right, though - it is a Shakes based on the color. I'm gonna have to do some internettin' ;) But, in looking at the base and fiberglass, it looks like a better one. "Made by Shakes, sold by West"... that always makes me wonder... what does West...

    Shakespeare Mariner 8500 antenna

Mike, can you clarify what you mean about "windings"? Typically, the guts of the antenna is either a coax cable or some type of straight rod - the better the antenna, the better the guts. You could likely save some money and just give the external fiberglass a light scuff and then paint...

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

OK, so the worry is that the antenna sticks so far aft off the back end of the hardtop that the cover puts downward pressure on the antenna? If it's just a little bit, I wouldn't worry about it - just put a rag or foam under the antenna where it contacts the edge of the hardtop. If it's...

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

It sounds like you don't have a folding mount?

    SeaV2 Seafarer with I/O?

Yup - different "last numbers" in the model designation (and sometimes letters) tells of different versions of the same hull. Whether you want an I/O or not depends largely on where/how you will use the boat. Nothing wrong - a small block V8 with a duoprop will have PLENTY of grunt for a 22'...

Any chance anyone has the templates for a modern 228? I want to install seadek.

Order their dryfit tempate. The template on their website could very well be from some Joe Schmoe that did it. It could be off/wrong.

Fresh Water cap keeps breaking GW257

Somebody must be being rough with the lid for it to keep happening. Scandvik makes good stuff. You could switch it out to a standard screw-off deck plate in SS (both pieces). As long as the new deck piece will fit in the area. Look at Perko stuff.

    A couple questions about a 228 Seafarer...

A lot of it comes down to how YOU will be using the boat and your expectations, wants and needs. I have a 250HP on my 24' Offshore and I am VERY happy with the performance. Top end isn't supper high - can hit 40 - but I don't much care about that. Hole shot is fantastic as well as slow speed...

You may have a clog in the tube that runs from the forward bilge.

    SeaDek updrade

Lucky, SeaDek feels FANTASTIC underfoot. Most "teak look" installations use 6mm foam - but you can also get it made in 9mm. Maybe other thicknesses - but I amy extremely familiar with those two thicknesses.

    SeaDek updrade

Looks great, Ken! Joker, the pieces are peel-n-stick. Try not to put it down till you KNOW it's where you want it. Peel a corner, hold the rest in place, then pull the paper off. As far as the teak lines go, once you have the template material laid out and taped down, you'll go back around...

    cockpit floor protection

Yeah, probably not the same quality as Seadek, but the question is do you really need what Seadek is offering? In my opinion, if you can get something at a substantial savings and it fits YOUR needs... go for it! :)

    cockpit floor protection

If the only thing holding you back from using Seadek is the permanent part, put snaps in (or domed snads).

    cockpit floor protection

Some thoughts... -- SeaDek and similar products like it look fantastic, but they're more for pleasure cruising than working. You can get SeaDek in either glue-down or snap-in versions. Personally, I wouldn't pick this option though - too expensive and not really the right product for the job...
