Best Way to Remove Diesel Soot

I've found that it seems to work even better with a little water... for what it's worth. Meaning, if the hull side is wet, don't dry it off, first.

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Regarding water draining while moving and it draining "better"... keep in mind that the OP's drains are now on the side of the hull - which could affect this. While moving forward starts to create a "hole" behind the boat which would help drainage, there's a possibility that the sides of the...

Best Way to Remove Diesel Soot

I'll second the Roll-Off - great stuff. If you get to the soot quick enough, a rag may be all you need.

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Actually, I have see this happen. It was a sink drain and it was mounted even higher than Dan's cockpit drain - but spray was coming up along the side of the boat such that the bowl filled! I'm not saying it "will" happen, but it surely "can" happen.

    Advice on raising scuppers?

First and foremost, I very much applaud your inititiative. A couple of concerns that pop into my head, though... -- With them mounted on the side and so close to the floor level, you run the possibility of water being forced INTO the scuppers as you're underway and flooding the cockpit...

    Ski/Tow bar Removal

I can't say for sure on a Grady, but on many boats, the pole goes to a base plate below the floor and has a locking pin to keep it from twisting. Typically there's some kind of access to get at it - whether a removable pie plate or something else. I suggest taking a better look at things - it...

Yamaha Water in Engine ....indicator light back on

Adding more info about the fill body gasket... it's also possible that water trickles down the outside of the fill hose and onto the tank... as another source to do what KY said.

    OX66 fuel leak?

Based on your description and the pictures, is it part of the reed block plate recirc system? I'm not near my engine to check, but if this is what they are... I think there are (6) of those nipples - so look for others inline, vertically, with the that one and the corresponding ones on the...

Yamaha Water in Engine ....indicator light back on

That's a Perko, vented gas fill. Yes, it should have an o-ring. Fishtales, maybe what looks like an o-ring in that picture is just the threads? The fill "body" has a gasket - but that is just where it mates to the fiberglass - that won't affect water in the fuel (just into the boat, itself).

    Worn Non-Skid???

Glacier, what you have is often referred to as a "pebble finish". But if you look closely at the OP's picture, there is a definite difference. Thinking more about this, I'd be that what he has there is a repair to a worn pebble finish non-skid - or at least an attempt to "re-non skid" what has...

Does a 20 ft Overnighter have a fuel shutoff and gas tank drain?

Gas tank won't have a drain. Actually, not aware of any tank that has a drain. No fuel shutoff, either - butyou could disconnect or clamp a hose. But... why? Treat the fuel properly, fill the tank, you're good to go. Draining tanks and running engines dry - that's for tiny engines and...

    New bimini top suggestions

Not familiar, myseld, with MSC - but some quick googling looks like it is a price-point top. Let's just say it's "inexpensive" looking! :) National Bimini Tops is a retailer - they don't make tops. Find out who the manufacturer is. I can't speak, first hand, for either of those companies...

    Worn Non-Skid???

So this is definitely factory? It's interesting that Grady changed to this style of non-skid - my '82 had the diamond pattern everywhere. And plenty of manufacturers still have the diamond pattern everywhere. I wonder how long Grady did it that way?

    Worn Non-Skid???

If that is factory, then they would have had to spray the non-skid on AFTER removing the deck from the mold... which means after the main layer of gelcoat had cured and didn't get a good bond.

    Worn Non-Skid???

Agree with Skunk. Gelcoat doesn't flake off. Does that non-skid match the rest of the boat? For some reason, it looks different than what I would expect to see.

    '86 Overnighter on-board Bimini Storage?

Just a side note... you could always add rear legs so it can stand up in place when not being used. The legs replace the rear straps.
