bow lifting eye moving up & down

Yup, you can definitely just use the bow eye (trailering eye) for lifting. That's essentially what is being done by using the cleat on the topdeck. Attaching a lifting strap directly to the bow eye is even stronger, though, as the straps are pulling against the bow keel. As an extra safety...

Explorer 24 looking live we’ll drain part

I hear what you're saying about wanting it to last, but 5200 isn't going to make it last longer. It's a PHYSICAL connection. Only a simple sealant is needed here. All 5200 will do is cause headaches down the road. If you want to step your game up, this would be a perfect case for butyl...

    Drop-in cup holders

Did you ever try TH Marine - or even a Grady dealer? Just out of curiosity, given how simply it would be to do (even a razor blade would work) why not slightly enlarge the hole? Russ, you must REALLY be bored... 3D printing a $4 cupholder that's readily available! :) That said, I've often...

Explorer 24 looking live we’ll drain part

One tip on that - skip the 5200 part. 5200 is like super glue. This connection is a mechanical connection and only needs a sealant. Using 5200 is extreme overkill (and pricey) and there is zero benefit to using it - in fact, should the time come to remove that fitting, it will make an already...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Yup. That means everything upstream of the coil is working properly and the issue MUST be the coil or plug wire. Now, what I honestly can't recall is if the wire is a separate entity from the coil - if it is, try swapping wires. If it turns out to be the wire, I would probably replace all 6...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Since the #5 doesn't fire at all at idle, that part makes sense. But pulling the #6 should have caused the same results as #4. THAT is sounding like good news! I'm not sure on coil pack specs offhand - I'll check the SM later. But, clean it up real good and see what happens!

Nah, go ahead and unplug it. There's what "Mother" Yamaha says, and then there's what we know works just fine. I'm only guessing, but the Yamaha recommendation could simply be due to a CYA thing. If you have a brass or SS detail cleaning brush (they're cheap at Harbor Freight), those work...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

I would assume your 200HP is the same as my 250HP... in the end, this doesn't affect what you have going on, though, but... around idle, spark is dropped on #5 and then somewhere in the low to high 1,000 range, #2 and #5 are both dropped. #6 is never affected. Did you gap the plugs before...

    86' 240 Offshore Restoration

Brian, no, do not cut all the way through. All you're doing is cutting about a 1/4" deep to remove the outer transom "skin". Stay back from any corners, whether inside or outside, to retain their inherent strength. As UCPA mentioned, an oscillating tool is fantastic tool to have. Take a...

    Old Grady Bottom Paint

One thing that can help with paint strippers is covering the stripper with plastic after applying it on the hull.

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

From my experience, I would say that that is WAY down on the possibility list. As in so far down the list, I wouldn't be worried about it. I don't know that shop, but if they're reputable, then those injectors come back basically like new. But because it's free and easy... pull the spark...

I don't doubt it! OK... just to double check... you had the vent open on the porta tank? Double check that hose - squeeze every inch of it making sure there are no soft spots. Assuming that's OK, go ahead with the plan to monitor fuel rail pressure and observe the linkages. I'm trying to...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Well, it kinda feels like we're jumping all over here - I'm sure it's quite frustrating for you. Since it is now surging on the portable tank, even directly to the OB, you can forget about everything upstream of the engine... unless you didn't open the kicker tank's vent? Can you better...

Try: Flush Mount or Concave head. Take a look at TH Marine's website - they have lot's of this stuff. Your local dealer should be an easy source, though, if needed.

The color of that old gas is perfectly fine. It's when it start's looking brown and smelling like varnish that it's a problem.

    Engine bracket plug

3/8" sounds small. I always thought those plugs were a standard garboard drain plug size? That would be 1/2" pipe (NOT 1/2"... 1/2" "pipe"... "NPT"). Since your bracket is made of aluminum, though, don't use a regular garboard drain plug (which is bronze) - other than to check the size...

Foam tiles in lieu of berth cushions

Those interlocking foam tiles could definitely work. Might need to tape the seams to keep them from popping apart as you twist and move around on them... or glue the seams with something like Gorilla glue. A few well placed snaps will keep it from moving around - and won't bother the berth...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Yes, run off the 86 gallon tank with the fuel fill cap off. This is the easiest way to see if the vent line/fitting is clogged... which would restrict fuel to the engine. -- If the problem goes away, you found the culprit - either an internally failing vent line, a low spot in the vent line...
