Chair or bean bag for the bow?

Good call. I have two ocean tamer teardrop bags on my 208. One stays aboard most of the time, throw on the second for sandbar days. Take some of the stuffing out! Anchored, I jam it on top of the bowsprit/windlass it’s the best spot. Can go onto the beach. Main issue with anybody riding up...

Chair or bean bag for the bow?

A more expensive approach but if you have a recommended good marine upholstery shop they can give you ideas and options.

Seakeeper Ride on a GW Freedom 235 ?

A friend of mine has this system on a 23’ Sportsman center console, running from NJ across to Delaware pretty impressive in 2-3’ quartering head sea.

Looking for ideas to get boat & trailer in new garage

Trailer tires are pretty high profile, with tall sidewalls. . I’d think you can safely lower tire pressures enough for the short trip inside, and especially with radial tires not risk damaging expensive tires. At least it’s worth a try to air down a bit and measuring how much you can get...

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

Outta my price range by a long way and given the size of the boat not a big fishing cockpit but that is the DC design. Love that full windshield up to the hardtop.

    Prop advice

Surprised that with 150hp on a pretty light boat you only turn 5100 rpm, presuming that the motor is making full power and the hull is clean. Year and model of the engine? I’d think on that a Reliance 14.25x18 would be the approximate prop. But that’s a guess among lots of options. Call or...

    Sandbar Anchor - Suggestions

I likewise have a small fortress anchor for my 208, 10’ of coated chain and 3/8” line. Key modification…I have the stem of the anchor and initial chain inside pipe insulation to prevent it banging around the boat or my legs and I use an extra large Lands End type canvass bag to store. Line...

    Has the tide turned?

A couple of quick comments. Friend of mine just traded his Pursuit DC295 for the DC307. Lots of improvements that make it a much better boat in his opinion for both cruising and fishing. Regarding the 275/285, at the dock the 285 feels and is much larger based on a brief time on board at the...

    GW rounded keel

Have a Powertech SCE4 14x14 4-blade that has good stern lift, back is not too heavy with F200 and hardtop. Had more lift from the Solas HR4 14.5x15 4 blade that was on the boat at purchase, but that was over-propped for the F200 which had trouble pulling past 5,000rpm. Overall fuel burn is...

    GW rounded keel

Listening to Sorensen is interesting. Gives an idea of what the hull design does well and it is consistent with many of our experiences when driving our boats. With the small 208, I pay particular attention as the boat will get to the limit a lot faster than the bigger models. As I have said...

    GW rounded keel

Point taken, not precise language. No I don’t think it will cut through a wave along the entire keel. Not going too fast and especially running in a following sea, rounded bottom helps achieve a soft landing. Head sea and going really fast, not so much. But hey I am not a marine engineer...

2017 or newer 208 - how do you like?

Uh, I I didn’t indicate 1,000 pounds of people and another 1,000 gear? What’s your point? After indicating you don’t use dry weights, you quote dry weights. I won’t get to a scale, don’t trailer my boat. Just my estimate for how I run. Take it, leave it.

    GW rounded keel

Well that video was a GW commercial. I do believe a rounded bottom will give a softer entry, that makes sense. Twice Sorensen mentioned a good ride down sea, yup. Noted that he mentioned hull designed to run 30mph. Yup. Give a dry and stable ride, and predictable handling, yes. Not rock too...

2017 or newer 208 - how do you like?

Those test weights are light for both boats. Leaving the dock with three on board for a full fishing trip and full fuel I estimate close to 4900. Leave a guy at the dock and burn 2/3 tank 500lbs lighter at the end of the day. 2900 boat 500 motor 200 hardtop/canvas 500 fuel (80 g) 600 3 dudes...

2017 or newer 208 - how do you like?

Yes, I have seen those posts, good idea and added to my list with priority. Run heavy, use tabs! LOL. She is a great little boat. Safe water travels.

2017 or newer 208 - how do you like?

Here is a long note… I have ‘21 208, hardtop and F200. It is a great pocket battlecruiser. Note that I didn’t say battleship, as no 20’ boat can quite get there. With a hardtop and bowsprit it looks bigger than it is. I run out of Waretown NJ so Barnegat Bay and the inshore/nearshore ocean...

WTB : Isinglass Enclosure and Boat Cover for 228 Seafarer

I didn’t buy but was on Covercraft’s website last week and a cover for a 208 was 50% off, around $750. Pretty good deal if still available considering it is a new piece and the cost (and garbage) of the throwaway wrap. 228 larger but not hugely larger.

Sounds like a good move. When your personal radar is screaming stop, wise to be mindful right? Mine has never failed me in professional and private deals, the only failures have been from dismissing the bleeping warning lights and sometimes that means passing on an opportunity. Good luck...
