    Putting a Yamaha 150HP on a Adventure 208?

The engine that Parthery is talking about, the OX66, is bullet proof.

    Putting a Yamaha 150HP on a Adventure 208?

208 is a heavy boat. You need the 225. I have that combo.

Question About Analog vs Digital Gauge

My 208 came with digial gauges as original equipment. The multifunction gauge that displays fuel, battery voltage, speed, and trip time is completely fried, short in the wiring to it. I need to replace it. Here's my question: being that the prices of Yamaha OEM gauges are through the roof (...

    Lower unit stand

Figures you Mainers have a chainsaw. You probably use chainsaws to make repairs to your gelcoat, too.

    Lower unit stand

I use two very large wood blocks. Put them right next to each other so that they are almost touching, and put the "fin" down into the crack. Cheap and simple. "

Charging Question for The Electrical Engineers On This Forum

Dual batteries with conventional lead plate design. They can be run in combination, or selectively, meaning I can be using battery #1 OR battery #2. When using a battery charger, is it best to charge them individually with the master switch off? Or, is it best to charge them in combination...

Having Starting Issues? File This Info Away for Later

What I did was to turn off the battery master switch. I got nice thick 4 guage jumper cables and hooked them up to the starter. Then I connected right to the battery. The starter worked fine. I knew there was trouble when I hooked the positive to positive and left the ground open, and the...

Having Starting Issues? File This Info Away for Later

OX-66 V6 Engine. Starter problems. Bendix would not engage the flywheel. It would spin, but not kick out far enough to crank the engine. What did I do? Spent alot of money unnecessarily. I bought two new batteries. New Starter. We're up to $500 bucks here now. I put in the new starter...

Costco Interstate Batteries vs. Walmart Maxx Batteries

CJ7: I agree completely with Dennis. Get a Deka and be done with it. It's not worth the few dollars you save to be out on the water and not be able to start your engines. Batteries are not the place to shave bucks. Dekas are readily available in just about any location you can think of...

New Prop. Three blades vs four

3 or 4 blades? Whatever your choice, Power Tech is a good solid performer, and you don't have to pay extra to pay for marketing like you would if you were buying a Merc prop or some other nationally known brand. And it is compatible with Merc hub kits. Good luck with it.

New Prop. Three blades vs four

KY: Not disagreeing with you. I'm just stating what works for me. Personally, I have no interest in a drag race out there, either. Like you, my speed over ground at 25 mph seems to be optimum mix for fuel burn and time spent getting to my fishing spot. Depending on water / wind conditions...

New Prop. Three blades vs four

I concur with you. Nice hole shot is cool, for sure. But why test the engine on WOT for extended periods? It's a fishing boat, you're not smuggling bourbon and cigars.

New Prop. Three blades vs four

That's a real shame. Good merchant gone.

New Prop. Three blades vs four

My experience with 4 blades is similar. I can't see myself going back to 3 blades.

New Prop. Three blades vs four

F18: You're in Moyock, NC? Run up the road to Chesapeake VA and see Max at Bay Propeller. I had been using a 3 blade Merc that I wore out in the shallow bottom of the Eastern shore of MD. I called Max, he recommended a 4 blade Power Tech prop that lifts the stern out of the water at fairly...

Is There a Substitute for Ring Free?

Sorry, I know this has been discussed a lot. But possibly over the last few years a new product hit the market place? Something easier to find than Ring Free? I don't consider Techron a substitute, it is just a general fuel system cleaner.

Failed Yamaha Starter: Opinions Regarding Options

Cleaning teeth? My dentist does that. Actually there was a burr on the Bendix shaft..polished out and works just fine on the bench. There's a new starter 30 minutes away from my boat as a backup if the repair won't start using my batteries and my solenoid.
