Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

Strainer replaced tonight thanks to #2 son. Skinniest of my kids and works on F35’s! Good news is no sludge in tank. Strainer looked dark black inside. Cleaned tank but do think the pump should be replaced in near future (works but looked bad). Will do in Fall when I pull boat.. Got dark and...

What the heck did I get myself into?

I was very determined to find a 232 with a hardtop and twin 150's for fishing. Previous boat had traveled to Montreal and to NYC via the canals from Lake Champlain and was a great boat when the kids were young. As they grew up and had kids of their own my boys felt we needed a wider beam and...

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

New oil filters should be delivered today. Is there any concern of air getting in the line from the secondary tank going to the main on the engine? Plan on draining both tanks and cleaning per everyone's recommendations. Second process will be checking out float alarm on main tank. Fingers...

What the heck did I get myself into?

I found this to be very true (low inventory) when I was looking for my 232. Got to the point I was going to wait until the Fall thinking people were not sure what they had gotten into and didn't want to pay for winterization. Good news is I found one. Talking to a local dealer he has no "new"...

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

Is it normal the cap is zip tied? Both are on my engines. Wasn’t sure if possible pinching could come into play.

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

You guys are amazing. When I purchased the boat I was told the starboard throttle cable was replaced by dealer. Not sure why both were not done in pairs. Based on the above comments this sounds like maybe we are onto something. Note in the picture of the main oil tank the oil was above the line...

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

Decided to go for a quick ride before rain. Engine oil tank full going out. Five miles in the bay the dash oil light goes from full to half to blinking. Back to the dock and remove engine cover. The main tank is full. Turn on ignition and dash oil gauge blinking.

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

I should have read the whole string before doing anything. I first checked the tank under the rear seat. Not empty but low (filled a week ago with one full gallon thinking alarm was from secondary tank). Added a half gallon. No signs of leaking in the bilge (spotless as if new) nor anywhere I...

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

Sorry the engines are two stroke Yamaha 150’s. The reservoir is two tanks - one for each engine - under the rear seat of the 232. I was unable to remove the engine cover today as it was pouring out when back to the marina but will check in the morning.

Starboard Low Oil Alarm - Where to Start

Last week had the starboard alarm go off related to low oil in the reserve. Poured a gallon of yamalube in the reservoir and alarms went off and displayed ok on the gauge. Today went out fishing and six miles into trip gauge went from full to half to alarm in short period. Bad news was backup...

Trim Tab Pump Location 2000 Gulfstream 2000

I do not see any type of relay in the wire harness (step 6). Four colored wires come to a four bank connector whereby one line was very loose so cut all four and connected with butt connectors. Note there is also a black ground going to the pump. Having a difficult time getting to the switch...

Trim Tab Pump Location 2000 Gulfstream 2000

Part of the fun with a new used boat is getting used to where everything is located. I have a trim tab stuck in the down position. Talked with Bennett guys and told me what to try. Problem is I haven’t found the pump unit. What am I missing as have run out of areas to find it?

No longer on the outside looking in! New (used 232)

Finally found my Grady-White Gulfstream 232 (2000) and is now present in my slip on Lake Champlain. Next to locate new Cannon downriggers to mount and start fishing again. Glad to be officially a member of this group!
