    Price My Boat - 2004 Marlin 300

The only x factor in that boat is the engines. For 40k I would buy with the intention of immediately repowering. But if you have the engines fully checked out, scoped and powerheads inspected, all must be documented, then with the options you have going for you I would think the 60k range would...

Water trickling out of exhaust just below Cowling

Sorry to hear this. I honestly believe after hearing so many stories regardless of the new exhaust kits done or not. Some of the motors we're just doomed from the beginning, why I have no idea but most got lucky, while some even after the exhaust kits we're done, we're just meant to fail. It's...

    Sailfish Transom/Fiberglass Question

Yeah the motor issue is something you don't want to deal with unless the seller is giving a serious reduction in price. If the motors we're maintained properly then the other somewhat minor items wouldn't scare me aeay. It would be something to negotiate and come home with.

    Need insurance recommendations

The only "catch" I noticed with marine underwriters when I had them was a higher deductible. But everything else was the same or better than other insurance companies.

    Sailfish Transom/Fiberglass Question

I have the same exact thing on my sailfish. When I purchased 2 years ago, surveyor said it's most likely covering up spider cracks, but cannot find any evidence of transom damage. He stated he sees this all the time on the sailfish and rarely has it proven to be transom failer. Fast forward 2...

    Insurance renewal question

Yes they usually do require a recent survey unless the boat is much older or under 10k in value....that's both estimated, I don't have exact figures they use. I insured a previous 79 mako for 6,500 with no survey for example.

    Insurance renewal question

Consequential Loss: Provides coverage to your boat resulting from sinking, burning, or collision even if the cause of loss is excluded under the policy. Most insurance companies do not provide this coverage. If your boat sinks due to wear or deterioration, they exclude your entire loss.

    Insurance renewal question

Try Marine underwriters insurance directly. Very straight forward easy to read and actual quote in a few minutes online. No weird exclusions that you have to sort thru. Also cover loss due to consequential damages

Had tank deck redone, big thanks to Crow's Nest Marina

I recently had my deck above the tanks redone/re glassed by Crow's Nest Marina in Oceanside LI. They were soft to the point where if I stepped in certain places, I swear I could feel the top of the pick ups. They also installed a new tranducer and repaired some delamination/gel coat above my...

    Sailfish Check you bilge hose!

I'm sure this has been covered, but as a friendly reminder check your bilge hose! I was doing some normal work on my 2001 sailfish. I remember going, I'm going to find that leak resulting in water siting in the forward bilge. I believed it was coming from the rub rail, which I still believe is...
