232 prop question I need some help!

WOT for that motor is spec'd at 5700 to 6300. What rev did you attain? What prop are you running now? Are you satisfied with the performance at the ranges you are most concerned with? In other words what are your 'needs' Is you hull bottom painted?

    Corrosion of trim pump

Really Dennis? :) Did you look at the photo of the trim tab anode, not just the bracket anode. That tab anode looks like swiss cheese.

    Corrosion of trim pump

That may be the case but without knowing how long the anodes were in service, you can assume it is a stray current issue. The anode as they work change composition and are basically useless at some point even though they still have some meat to them The general rule of them is that when the...

    Wring path on 330 Express

The Harbor freight 'snake' kits are somewhat cheaply made but fine for every now and then cable pulling jobs. They are under 10 bucks compared to the box store offerings that can run almost $100. https://www.harborfreight.com/3-16-inch-x-33-ft-fiberglass-wire-running-kit-65326.html

    VIN numbers

Depends on the state. In some states it is close to impossible to re register a trailer as homemade

    Help a GW Newbie - De-winterization

After a winter sitting, there is no way the batteries will produce 12.8 volts. Do as Dennis recommends. As to what needs to be done to de-winterize, that depends on what was done to winterize. You really need to know what the job included. If you have a fresh water system it should be drained...

    Corrosion of trim pump

That anode is way past replacement time. It probably does not provide any protection. Corrosion on the tilt motor housing is pretty bad also. I would try a product like Rust Con that converts rust to a hard surface for painting. It it also hard to work on the back of the housing without...

    2005 Kenwood KDC wiring question.

I'm shocked by this. Granted it probably draws milliamps, but it is a draw. I also noticed the radio goes to sleep a while after the battery switch is turned on. My guess is this is the only real difference between the car receiver and the boat version. I've always struggled to understand how to...

    Ceramic coating?

I think the only way to compare is to dunk your car in salt or brackish water, let it sit for a week or so and then see how it cleans up:) OK, seriously, to me clear coat is not gel coat. Sea water is not rain water. Some of the application of ceramic coatings I have read about cost a lot of...

    Islander 268 fuel help

One of my previous boats had Mercs with command link gauges. Although the senders in the tanks were the conventional type electrically, the concept of a pink wire did not apply. The mercury had a special multi purpose harness that used a 5 volt reference voltage and a voltage divider circuit...

200 HPDI Yamaha Two Stroke Gas

I was in lala land. Actually the octane minimum ration for regular grade of gasoline is (pardon the pun) regulated by the state. Most states have an 87 minimum requirement but several have 85 as the requirement. To get 84 I store the gas for a few years in my garage:)

200 HPDI Yamaha Two Stroke Gas

That motor may need 87 octane and regular at the pump is near 84. I am pretty sure that motor does not have a knock sensor that can help compensate for lower octane. Engine knock can destroy a motor quickly. If you hear knocking under load, reduce the load and add higher octane gas to the tank...

    Islander 268 fuel help

OK. Look for the pink wire and short it to ground. See if the gauge reads full. If so, the sender is probably bad

    Islander 268 fuel help

Did the gas gauge work correctly after the repower? The following test is valid for standard tank wiring. Some boats with Mercury rigging and command link instrumentation use a different wiring arrangement for the level sensors and trouble shooting is trickier. What displays/gauges do you have...

2004 Grady White 257 Advance. Looking for Parts or Part numbers.

I understand the challange. Yes there are many suppliers of the more common parts but it isn't so easy selecting the right part without first removing the old part and having it for reference. So if you are doing a restoration or upgrade and the boat will be on land for a period of time, you...
