    3 or 4 bank charger?

Thanks for your advice. I was planning on a three bank with the battery wiring approach you outlined. What threw me was that I saw the same boat but newer year that I have at the NY Boat show and it had a 4 bank charger. I asked the factory rep about the number of banks required and he said...

    3 or 4 bank charger?

I am not sure how many banks a charger should be for my boat. I have gotten different opinions from dealer, vendors, and internet 'gurus' I have twin engines and four batteries. There is one battery for the port engine, a second for the stbd motor and two parallel batteries for the house and...

Thoughts on when to shed the shrink-wrap?

If you expect snow or freezing rain, perhaps you want to keep the wrap on. In my east coast area (NYC) the official last day of possible freezing temp is mid May! My boat as well as yours is not as sensitive tp freezing events as some plants are:) One thing you want to avoid is getting hit with...

Gas Struts for fish boxes on 95 Gready White Adventure

I had a 208 but don't remember 100% what those lockers had to hold the lids up. I am kind of sure they had original factory gas struts and draw pull rubber strap latches

Gas Struts for fish boxes on 95 Gready White Adventure

What fish boxes are you referring to? The lockers behind the two helm seats?

Shore power not working 300 Marlin

Since it has a test button, I would think it is a Ground Fault Interrupter/breaker combo

    Vent Fitting

Sometimes boat things are easy. Most of the time it's not so easy!

    I second that statement.

    Vent Fitting

It might be. I would see if the panel mentioned is relatively easy to remove.

    Vent Fitting

It is possible that you can't get to the fitting without cutting a hole for a new access plate. First steps are to try removing what ever panels or lids that are near to the fitting to see if you can reach it. It would help to know what the through hull is for. The original owners manual does...

    Battery runs low on anchor

exactly what is left powered up? Do you have a fridge or chillers. Any kick butt stereo? Radar left on? Also something doesn't sound right. You say you have to switch to BOTH to get the first battery charged, If you have to use BOTH to start the first motor, switch the battery switch to the...

Fisherman 257 Yamaha 300 Drive shaft length?

I did some research and I am pretty sure a single motor on that hull should be a 30 inch.

Boat Parts Vendor (a new discovery for me)

I dug further and some fittings say they are USA made. They are some sort of composite material but exactly what composite is not mentioned. Interesting, let's see if anyone else has info

You won't know until you remove the panel

Boat Parts Vendor (a new discovery for me)

Is this a Chinese Company? I recommend buying brand names that you or others know and use. I've seen too many 316 stainless fittings corrode nd rust. Maybe the stuff is good but I wouldn't be first to try.

Fisherman 257 Yamaha 300 Drive shaft length?

Single e\motor? I think a 30 inch is the norm, twins get 25s.

    trim tabs anodes

They probably come loose because they were working and getting smaller:) The nearest part for the tab zinc is the tab itself and the nearest area to the metal of the tab is the underside of the zinc.

    Fuel Tank Replacement

To a great extent, the corrosion of the tank depends on how wet or dry for that mater, the tank coffin is. Grady recommends that the tank be rinsed periodically to remove salts but that is easy to say but can be hard to do. In many cases the corrosion is worse on the underside of the tank which...

twin 17yr old yamaha 150s with olny 200hrs would you trust them???

I supposed that you might have mentioned earlier that the motor has recently been serviced :) In addition the fact that it was recently serviced and tested for compression would have been helpful. I read you post as meaning that the boat and motor had sat for years with no service.

twin 17yr old yamaha 150s with olny 200hrs would you trust them???

What does it mean to say :the motors checked out?) At a minimum, you should do a compression test. More importantly than the hours is when those hours were accumulated. For example, if the boat was used for 10 hours a year, I wouldn't be as concerned compared to the case where the boat has sat...
