Tips needed - Windlass nut removal

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here. You say these gears are "sticking". What are they sticking to? From what I can see in the parts diagram, that is the intermediate gear reduction set. Those two gears are supposed to be locked together. The small pinion gear on the electric...

    House Battery vs. Starboard battery

If you have a load tester, leave the battery cables connected to the new battery that reads low periodically and disconnect the cables at the other end. Connect your load tester on that end of the battery cables and apply the load there. That will test the battery cables also. You didn't say how...

    House Battery vs. Starboard battery

JLR, If the new battery was dropping in voltage while underway, I would say that your problem is in your charging systems. The voltage should not need to drop to low values before the alternator wakes up. It should be putting out 13+ volts all the time. Even at idle on the muffs if you have it...

I will start here, Florida Guys & Gals some help would be appreciated

If you are not with a state recognized, regulated tour, it is considered harassment to mess with them. There are springs up around Crystal River that have tours I believe, and you can rent kayaks and paddle around them. Just remember that those things weigh around a thousand pounds or more when...

    Richie HF-73

This is some repair and maintenance info from Richie. There are lots of different models. If your model accepts fluid replacement, you can most definitely do it yourself. It's not brain surgery. https://www.ritchienavigation.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/ritchinavigation-servicemanual.pdf...

    Corrosion of trim pump

Looking at that skeg anode makes me think the previous owner had the boat in the water where there was some strong stray current existing. That could easily erode the anode in a short time and corrode the case of the pump motor. That is not a big deal. Just expect to have those obviously damaged...

    long-haul tow Marlin 300

Daydream, I sold a Grady to a guy in California. I live in Florida. This is the guy he hired. Travis (305) 393-4035. He is an independant, but covers all the bases. It's been a couple years ago. If he doesn't have time, he might hook you up. Good luck.

    228 Seafarer to a 258 Journey?

The only problem I see with making a trade is the pristine nature of the bilge in your 228 may be hard to achieve in the 258 so the epitome of bilges will lost forever.

Name placement - transom or side?

To the original poster, just look at the beautiful lines of the Grady hull. This boat happens to belong to our member Freedom!!! Think long and hard before you ruin what you see there by plastering some words there that you think are cute. Freedom!!! did it right.....IMHO of course.

Name placement - transom or side?

I would recommend you write the boat name on a piece of paper and place it in your wallet.

When I want to stand on something level and constant, I go stand on a sidewalk. ........just kidding guys. It's a spendy little add on but cool technology. It might cut down on the looks from the Admiral.

Wiring in GW 235 - neat or tangled?

No doubt the neatness of the hidden wiring varies as the factory production managers are changed and the production pressure on the final prep crew increases seasonally. I appreciate neatness in the under-helm wiring but actually as long as there is no excess weight on connections and no loose...

1994 228G broken engine mount bolts in alum

Put an oversized deep socket over the remaining head of the bolt or the remaining nut. The socket just needs to be a little deeper than the projection of the stuck piece. Then cut off the head of a grade 8 bolt 1/16" smaller diameter than the broken bolt. Leave about 1/2 inch of the shank below...
