Hmm - my best guess is that some water got behind the silicone seal on the right and is shorting out one of the buttons, possibly the menu button given what you're seeing. It may be possible to clean the contacts under the seal, but you might want to see if you know an experienced electronics...

For what it's worth, I was able to resolve a fuel smell issue by replacing the sender gasket. The original cork one had deteriorated. I only noticed the issue when I had the tank topped up.

Is it just me, or do others think there's no gelcoat outside of the sanded are? Isn't that chopped strand?

Here's a pic of the access plate my marina added on the starboard side to do the drain. There's one in exactly the same place on the port side. I think this is a great spot for this.
