That is tough news but better to know now than to mount two new 4 strokes that add significantly more tourque to your transom and risk a disaster while underway. It seems like the number of transom issue is growing by the day on this site. Hope Grady is monitoring these reports and fixes this...

My marina use this method. They nailed a 12 inch stick to the top or each piling and then attached a stainless steel wire from the top of the stick to the piling at a 45 degree andle. Birds do not even approach the pilings. Suppose you could modify the strategy for your boat.

Are you talking about in season on winter storage? On my 282 in season they are stored in the aft berth when the boat is docked. During winter layup they are stored in a dry closet in my house. Great looking boat!!
