    Electric boat trailer winch

Unfortunately not enough torque is available from a battery drill. The gearing on the winch would need to be lower. In a perfect world the electric winch would take a battery from a readily available tool platform. Unfortunately no tool manufacturer is in that business.

    Electric boat trailer winch

I'll second this. Had a trailer with a power winch. Total PIA. If only someone made one where a battery drill could attach.

    2024 Marlin Trim Tabs

Here's one for the conspiracy crowd: New f350s are so light that there was a need to change the boats CG for better handling so they went to a different hull mold that moved weight aft.? Looks like the 306 has some with and without pockets too for 2024, but 2025s have no pockets. It looks like...

    2024 Marlin Trim Tabs

Good call. Does the same Canyon or Freedom 30' have exposed tabs? Possibly the case, but I would be surprised that fiberglass molds could be that precise to allow interchangeability between caps.

    2024 Marlin Trim Tabs

That is odd. I thought GW typically hid tabs under the hull to avoid having under water protrusions. Looks like they changed at some point in 24. Making room or cutting cost?

    1000 hr service - 2006 F250

Makes my 8 quart oil changes on my Zukes look like they are worth the trade off! No timing belts.

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

Prototype?;) I don't have an issue with the look of a Freedom, but I favor the flexibility/utility of a WA better. I'm sure one day all cross over to a DC, but we are currently very happy with the 270.

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

If you look at the specs, this is a replacement for the 33. Dimensions are identical. Although not being exciting, GW has been playing the "1' itis" game for decades. Marketing teams are all about product differentiation to demand more $$. As much as I hate it, it's a proven strategy. Since all...

    Questions about Deck Drains

If your thru hulls are really shot, forget taking the nut off. Like Mindskew did on the interior drains, take a small cut-off wheel and cut the outer flange free from the ID. Take a punch and whack the inside of the flange. It will likely pop off. If not, hit it with a heat gun. A mallet...

Getting gas from boat gas tank

I've used one. It got the job done and I lived to tell about it. So far there are no reviews on HF indicating death by fireball. That said, if it's dry out with zero wind, I might think twice. Also, don't get the bright idea of changing batteries near the open tank with the switch on!

Getting gas from boat gas tank

The cheap battery pumps work great, but there is the potential hazard pumping out of the sending unit port. Another option is to disconnect the fuel line going to the engine. Connect a longer tube to the receiving tank, but make sure it is lower than the boat tank. Squeeze the primer bulb till...

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

At the very least the integrated hardtop across the line is way overdue. CNC tubing benders have been around long enough and at a price point low enough that GW should have been making better use of this tech long ago. Full windshields and removable panels would be a nice touch. Canvas flapping...

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

Although highly unlikely, but it would be great to see a boat builder like GW with a better reputation than World Cat but not at the price point of a Freeman get into the cat market. The hull design is ideal for a DC. Deep head to port with massive storage/small bunk starboard.

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

At our local GW club event over the summer, almost half the boats were 335s. Apparently it is the financial sweet spot for those who want a big DC. Wise investment by GW to refine the money maker of the line. Along that line of reasoning, whatever Pursuit model is siphoning off sales is likely...

New Grady debut at the end of the month. Big, little, or in-between?

My bet is not big based on the saturation of the boating market. What does your crystal ball say?

    Wash down pump :o(

Found the problem. Every time I tried the washdown pump it was daylight. Got it home in the garage and turned the switch on before I pulled the pump. Nothing, including no light on the switch. Hmm. Blown fuse? Looked under the dash and saw a loose wire hanging off a switch. I saw this wire a...

    Re-Power Islander 270

Your fuel economy numbers are exceptional. If your props are indeed 19's, you are likely a bit under propped. A 21 or 22 would be closer to optimal. I've been fighting traction issues and made some adjustments today, but I'm not confident it will help. My anti ventilation plate is level with the...

    Re-Power Islander 270

Congrats on the repower. I have done the same and have had 2 great seasons with mine. I might tweak props a little for better performance, but otherwise the Zukes have been excellent. Please share details. I'm curious about: * Engine mounting hole * Prop type and pitch * Fuel burn at cruise *...
