    Amazon gel coat close match

I can’t sean to find the spectrum kits anymore which were easy to get. Since then I’ve been using this in Amazon. Depending on how faded your Grady is, it’s a very close match.

Can’t reach lower transom mounting bolt!!

Thank you fellas for the tips, I ended up getting the skinniest kid in the yard and said $30 if you don’t drop it and if you do drop it then run. Got them both lol. I can’t believe Grady didn’t move the pie plates over just 2 more inches over to clear the stringers. Insane. I appreciate...

    Stupid question, but need help

On my sailfish, I’m looking at the back of the switch panel. I just wanna make sure I’m looking at these wires correctly as I’ve got 100 other things going on trying to get the re-power on this boat done Looking at the back of the switch panel all the orange jumper wires are power and all the...

    Fuel gauge plug/unknow wires?

Appreciate it skunkboat, I overlooked the obvious in my original post. In my head the factory 6pin plug (with the 2 dark blue, 1 black, 1 pink, 2 baby blue wires) plugged directly into the old original round Yamaha fuel management gauge/harness (purple, orange, black, red etc). It obviously...

    Fuel gauge plug/unknow wires?

OK, I’m an idiot. Those two connections don’t go together not directly anyway. But I did find out is that the six pin out plug that has the baby blue wires on it is the factory plug, and only three of those wire wires were used on my boat. The pink, the black and one of the dark blues were used...

    Fuel gauge plug/unknow wires?

Ok it looks like it plugs directly into the old yamaha round tach, still not sure what those three other wires are for? I don’t wanna loose anything. Is it possible for the sync function?

    Fuel gauge plug/unknow wires?

Just a quick recap, I’m doing a repower and I’ve removed all the old harnesse which were for Yamaha round gauges. Totally forgot about tracing the wire for the sending units for the fuel tanks. I was able to locate them. They go to a switch panel so you can switch from one tank or two tank...

Can’t reach lower transom mounting bolt!!

I have a 2001 282 sailfish. I’m here in the middle of a re power and can’t seem to reach the lower inner outboard mounting bolt. I opened the deck plate and can barely get my fingers on it because the stringer is in the way. My fear is if I remove it, which I have to because it’s stripped...

    Strange Plug, purpose???

Thank you for the detailed explanation. Definitely makes sense now. It’s pretty interesting and would have never know if I hadn’t been doing a report.

    Strange Plug, purpose???

Would there be any reason someone would hook this up directly to the on off battery switches on a sailfish?

    Strange Plug, purpose???

Removing my 05 f250’s (unfortunately had a hole above thermostat housing and by time I realized intake ingested water and hydro locked) mechanical controls , installing 08 f250’s with DEC. I was removing old harnesses and I came across this single plug that was connected to the port motor and...

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

I’ll take more pictures tomorrow when I’m on the boat fishing with my son. I’ll have to run a level across it so you could tell where the bubble is. It’s really strange. It’s like stepping onto a thin Ziploc bag full of air if that makes sense. I’m not ruling out that it’s water, but I would...

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

Appreciate all the input here. Here’s a few pictures of when the work was done years back. Im skeptical that there’s water intrusion or the core is bad especially considering the location of where it is appearing (halfway between the edge and in the inspection plate) I don’t have any finish...

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

I see your point about doing it from the underside. I guess my biggest concern is that if i keep stepping on it for the season and the gelcoat/skin splits open, I’ll be in the same boat as just fixing it from the top side. If the skin makes it thru the summer without splitting at the air...

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

The deck side has never been repainted. It was left intact when the core repair was done years ago. I’m not so concerned about the aesthetics of it as I do fish the boat hard and the deck side gelcoat definitely has its marks on it.

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

I have experience with fiberglass, but I am by no means very skilled in it. But I can do it. I was hoping that if I take a hole saw and cut out the air bubble section giving me just the skin removed ( 8” circle piece of gel coat skin in tact) that I should be able to lay a thin layer of glass...

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

Just to be clear what I mean by cut the section out I mean, just cut the gel coat layer out not the core itself

    Gas tank lid delamination repair

Hey everyone it’s been a while since I’ve posted (kids, work etc) has been insane the past few years. Anyhow, years back ( 6 if I remember correctly) I had my gas tank lid repaired/re cored with new wood. I noticed this past off season that there appears to be an air pocket forming in one...
