    Trolling motor on 33 Canyon

I had the pleasure of fishing on a 30' Blackwatch a few times this season. It has a MK Instinct. We had some great wreck fishing and excellent holding on pots for mahi. Now, I always joked about pride in my "16 lb spotlock", but this off-season, there will be some serious consideration of a...

    No vhf reception or transmission

"no connectivity:.... That doesn't rule out an open connection of the antenna. Did you open up the ferrule to look? is it a soldered connection or a "twist-on"? verify the center conductor is not broken or too short to reach the connection. That is the most common trouble with a VHF.....

Bought the 258, which engines for upgrade?

oh ya, You probably have a Seastar HC5345-3 on your Yammie. It probably works on a Honda BUT....you might need a Seastar Tournament or Pro cylinder with a 350. Check the Dometic website for Outboard cylinder application guide. heheheh,,,things add up.... I never had a 350 so IDK if you need...

Bought the 258, which engines for upgrade?

From an efficiency angle, both fuel and maintenance, go with the single 300 with dual prop. I think a 25' can be managed with a single. You save weight on motor vs twins but also can possibly carry less fuel weight. I run twin 200 zukes on my 265. 1000 hours in 5 seasons. 100 to 200mile...

Rythmic Thumping noise from rear speakers

Can someone tell me what this is?

You really need to look at the cable. Depending on age and what it connects to, that can be a NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 GPS unit ...or GPS unit and heading sensor...or just an old GPS antenna with a BNC connector. People still call GPS units "antennas" but they are actually a GPS receiver built...

New fuel tanks - Grounding Question

you know, now I'm looking at that picture with the brass NPT elbow. That is unusual. Usually a tank pickup is not an elbow. How is the pickup tube attached? Usually it is a machined ALUMINUM piece. The barb fitting or AS valve barb fitting threads into the pickup.

    ACR beacon question

registration is easy. They send you reminder when due. I get one for PLB and one for my EPIRB Once renewed they send a new sticker in the mail. Battry replacement is a no brainer if you get the pre-wired battery. You have to get the thread lock out of the phillips head screw. Don't chew it up...

I have the ACR version and I have no problems with it. I can even be on the dock. Shuts off engines when I walk away. Only problem I've had was wristband in my back pocket and sat on the power button.

New fuel tanks - Grounding Question

again, the tank and fuel fill grounds should not use the negative bus under the dash. they should connect together and run to a battery neg terminal. They should be green not black. I am guilty of using black wire to replace some of it but I know its wrong. The Grady wire bundle used green wire...

New fuel tanks - Grounding Question

They will go to the switch. The switch is choosing whether the gauge connects to pink or to pink/white on the "S" sender pin The blacks probably connect together to the negative/ground connection of the gauge or to a common negative bus for the dash. Often the power to the + or "I" pin comes...

New fuel tanks - Grounding Question

The Green (or black) wires on the fuel fills should go to the ground tabs on the tank(s). there should be a Green (or Black)wire between the tanks and then from the tanks to the Neg of the batteries. All of this is "grounding" to keep the fills and tanks at the same "ground" potential...

New fuel tanks - Grounding Question

normally the original gounding wires would be green not black. The difference is that the green "grounding" wires are not intended to normally carry current. Black "return" or "negative" wires are part of a circuit. You should not use green wires as a negative circuit connection. However, gauge...
