General question on buying a Grady, i am looking on Long Island NY

I wonder if the 1994 date is actual calendar or is it model year? A 1994 boat could have been built in 1993. The HIN would help make that determination. There is a possibility that the boat might have a SV2 decal on the windshield. Of course that isn't 100% definite, the decal could have been...

    Bimini 306

In all likelihood, the gel coat won't be a perfect match since the hull and deck have been exposed to sunlight for a long time and the original will have faded. There are videos on the web that show how to make a decent color match but it can be labor intensive. If the areas you want to match...

    263 Chase Livewell Pump

Was/is there a scoop for the ol livewell? If so, it would have a seacock on iy already. I'm a bit confused. Here is a link to an article about livewell pump sizing and other good info. https://partsvu.com/blogs/boating-resources/livewell-pump-essentials-choosing-the-right-flow-rate

    2009 Chesapeake

Has the boat always listed or is this something new? Some boats list. The "Port side holds water' statement can mean different things. For example, if the boat lists to port, water that might normally drain into the bilge can't due to the list. How do you determine that there is water pooling...

    f300's or f350's

If you are asking on a choice between F300s or earlier (not rev C) F350s my answer would be F300s

    Head

I 'accidentally' deleted my earlier response so in summary, the picure in the OPs post is a porta potty style MSD. I had the same in my 208. If the OPs MSD is held down to the deck with brackets on the sides, that would confirm my assumption.

    263 Chase Livewell Pump

The size of the pump is related to the livewell size which you know and the type of bait you want to use it for. Too big a pump and some baits can drown. Too small a pump and bait can suffocater. Google for live well changes per hour and go from there. It is possible that the live well feed was...

    Wrong Way Corrigan

Based on the OP location, the declination would be about 10 degrees so that doesn't explain the 20 degree difference. One simple test for magnetic interference is to turn off all battery switches and note the compass heading. Not turn on the battery switches, note the heading again. Turn on...

    Under Bow access?

Maybe not a good idea. Connecting two speakers in parallel will halve the ohm load seen by the stereo or amp. That can cause overload and potential damage. I would confirm that the speaker signal is present at the stereo head end before anything else and go from there. You can also ohm out the...

Hull Paint / Thru Hull Fittings?

In theory chrome over bronze thru hulls should not be painted with copper based bottom paint. In theory also, chromed thru hulls should not be below the water line but might be below the bottom painted above the water line are of the side hull. Did that make any sense:)

    Fuel Fill Hoses...Who's Changed Theirs?

The smell from a leaker sender will last longer than fumes permeating an old fill or vent hose.If you top off your tanks when filling, the fill hose will be full of gas. The gas in the hose will be used up relatively quickly Note that there doesn't have to be an actual 'leak' for fumes pass...

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

On original SX motor props, you have to remove the prop to see its specs which may be stamped on the inside of the back (facing the gearbox) flange. On the outside of the hub, you may see something like17M. That doesn't tell you the full specs

    Gulfstream 232 W/ Single Yamaha 250 4S

Crusty hull will slow the boat but we can't say for sure without knowing what prop you are running and if it is in decent shape. I do not know what your statement about 'Sweet Spot" means. Usually sweet spot refers to the best fuel consumption when on plane and cruising

    272 transducer

Which bullet are you talking about? A DIY job or having it changed by a technician. What transducer do you currently have and what model MFD? Are you sure the transducer id shot and not that MFD or cable? The job in theory is straightforward but there are many areas that can end up being a...

    Seakeeper Ride on Grady 235

The flow of water will rotate the vanes into the 'up' position if power is removed from the actuator motor. If my boat didn't have them, I probably wouldn't have missed them. That said, my wife likes them a lot. She is a fair weather sailor and to be honest, I am also to an extent. With the...

    Adventure 208 steering

The 208 does not have a rear deck lid. There are two pie plates in the motor well. You can see a bit especially with a mirror by looking from the rear lockers. The starboard side which is where the rigging tubes end also contains the batteries making access a bit difficult

    Adventure 208 steering

I may have misled you a bit. I have run cables on different boats and mat have confused the 208 with a Mako I once owned. On the 208 open the pie plate in the cabin on the wall behind the helm. That may be where you will see the rigging tubes. It sucks getting old:) Suffering from CRS!
