    Talk me into it..

Moved up from a 23 Mako to a 33 Express. No regrets. Back story is that I took my wife on a day trip to Martha's Vineyard. We were looking at the boats in the harbor, and she asked if all the moorings were transient. I replied no, those other ones are for overnights. "Why don't we do...

    Triple Rod Holders??

I've thought about it, and nearly purchased some from a welder at the fishing show this winter. I elected to stick with the extra clamp on Taco rod holders on my tower legs. The welder had a great design with 3 slots in a 90* angle set up, which would work great. Same use case on my 330 as...

Water dripping in at planing speed

@baytripper89 - can you post a picture of the impacted area? Many of us have different models, and are not familiar with the specific layout of your boat. It may allow others to chime in with reasonable suggestions for you.

New Canvas - what to do

Got the new enclosure installed Friday. Overall, quite happy with it. Some thoughts after doing it. The approach I asked about above is how I went - started with front center, and worked around both sides from there, alternating so both sides were progressing similarly. Snap tools. I had...

Offset hinge for cabinets 330 expresa 2007

Boat Outfitters has those. Go under OEM, select Grady White, and scroll. I needed one a while back.

New Canvas - what to do

Thanks, JJF - I have a similar tool from Sailrite I can use. @wspitler - looking at the curtains, most of the panels are primarily stratoglass with canvas trim. How much will a 2" piece of canvas stretch? For the 3 rear panels, it makes a lot of sense, as they are about half canvas. I've...

New Canvas - what to do

Next question as the panels are lying flat and we are working out the bends. When it is the initial installation time, is there a system that works best? Here is my current train of thought. Insert the front 3 pieces into place across the top of the windshield, then adjust side to side...

    265 Express center rigger

Here is a photo I found showing the halyard. It is the red cord in this picture. It is still a bit high - I’m 5’8” tall, but I also wanted it to be out of the way for casting spinning Reid’s.

    265 Express center rigger

Not a 265, but on my 330, I run the center halyard to the base of the middle rod holder on the port side. It is slightly forward of the holder, so it does not interfere with the holder. It is still a reach, but far better than on the hardtop.

New Canvas - what to do

Does anyone have a snap installation tool such as the sail rite press n snap fastener tool they might want to move on from? Would be interested in buying, renting, or simply borrowing. Preference is to buy however.

    Fuel level measurement

The other alternative is to simply use the motor computer to tell you fuel consumed. The fuel gauges on my boat are off, the fuel consumed is much more accurate anyway, and I also keep a running table in the notes app on my phone. Logs date, gals added, gals burned, and remaining fuel. This...

    Generator removal

Punted and had the boatyard remove the generator. Now there is a huge void in the bilge. Curious as to what others may have done in that space. Not planning to replace the generator, not interested in a Seakeeper, I've toyed with idea of adding a reserve tank for canyon runs there.

    Leaving the group

Best wishes, and I'm pretty sure that you'll be allowed to come back here! I've learned a lot from stuff you've shared over the years as I got to know my 330 and appreciate all of it. Congratulations on the new boat, enjoy it!

    PLB or EPRIB

I carry both. It is less about the distance offshore and more about the conditions. Water in the NE is cold, and anything one can do to reduce the response time is worthwhile.

    Help Identify this switch

Agree with others, but the real question is what is it currently hooked up to, if anything? For that, you'll need to trace the wires. In 40 years, a lot can happen, it could be bypassed, hooked up correctly, or switching something else entirely.

Is there a rule of thumb you use for rough seas?

Rules of thumb are a starting point. Combine those with local experience, and you'll quickly figure it out. For swells, I like the ratio to be at least 2-1. So for a 3'sea, I'm looking for at least a 6 second period. Wind chop is different. I boat in a location notorious for wind...

Electrical Bus Bar for a 1992 Seafarer

You'll need to add up all the needs for the devices which connect to it, and ensure the bar is sized accordingly. This may require new wiring from the battery to the bar as well. The electronics needs in 2026 are far higher for most of us than they would have been in 1992. I've been happy...

New Canvas - what to do

Thank Yeah. My wife would not go for the white look. Was concerned about staining, etc. I liked the modern look it provides. Happy wife, happy life, and that was not the hill to die upon. Thrilled to have clear panels, to say the least!
