    SPOT LIGHTS /new 275

Bow glare is lotsa white gelcoat up front lit up bigtime. Pretty much wipes out any "night vision" your eyes have gradually attenuated to. And, of course, you don't get that back immediately when you turn the light off. In many cases you're better off using a modest off-the-shelf hand-held...

    SPOT LIGHTS /new 275

When using my spotlight, the glare from the bow is blinding, making it close to useless (see the mounting on radar thread.) I think the logical answer is a 3-4 inch thin lip of plastic or similiar material around bottom and sides of light, making it more a spotlight, and less a "floodlight."...

    Radar Mount----help?

I'd be very reluctant to mount it directly. You're risking cracking a very expensive hardtop with the stresses that come from a mild pounding in the boat. I've seen it done on some "big ole boats" where hardtop was constructed with heavy layers with little regard to weight. That's not the case...

Anyone know what to expect mpg cruise on 22-8?

I run a G/W 228 with Evinrude 200HP 2-stroke. At cruise, 4000 rpm, I get around 2 MPG, depending on load, sea conditions, etc. I've run Yami 2-strokes before, ran very good, but gas hogs. I'd be surprised if you did much (any?) better than me. Good Luck,

    A kicker for a 226 Seafarer

I run 15 hp Honda kicker on GW 228-slightly over 100 lbs. weight on transom is neglible-main engine is 200 hp Evinrude. You don't need 15 hp-at approx. 1/3 throttle I get 5-6 knots. Any more throttle, boat starts to "squat" and pushes more water, doesn't go any faster. Recommend 9.9 HP...

    Radar Mount----help?

I respectfully disagree with the previous post. A radome that is level at rest is not OK. You don't run into much at rest (yep, someone could always run into you.) When underway, bow is typically pointed up at an angle. That angle is usually more pronounced at the slow speeds when relying on...

    What size kicker?

9.9 HP is probably just fine. I use a 15 HP Honda on a G/W 228, and about 1/2 throttle is all I ever use. Any more and the boat just starts to "squat" and push more water-doesn't go any faster. I also max out a little over 6 knots.

    1988 Grady White 228G

Hardtop I bought the 228G about 5 yrs. ago with a Bimini top on it. The custom hardtop was done by http://www.mdtops.com in Virginia-For about half what G/W wanted for one. I installed the electronics (had plate welded in for radar and searchlight when hardtop built.) I also got...
