I am thinking about buying a 1983 Tournament 17. Does any one have any thoughts or insight about this model? It has a 115 hp yamaha two stroke for power and is a very clean boat. I would like to re-power it in the future and was wondering if anyone had recommendations for that. Asking price is $6500. Is that reasonable?
Any info on this model would be appreciated!

They only made the Tournament 170 for a year...was a shame too because it was a great boat.

Ours had a Johnson 100 on it and it was a 38-39 mph boat....with that 115 you should see 40.

Tournament 17

I purchased the boat and know the price seems high but the boat is in mint condition. Parthery did your boat have a folding motor well door? Could you use the areas at the transom right and left of motor for seating? Do you remember if it was good in waves or rough water? Was it a fairly dry ride? I would be curious to know how many Grady White Tournament 17s were produced. Thanks!

As I recall, the boat did have a fold-down motorwell door. It also had 2 lockers on each side, and they could be used for seating.

Just checked the GW website and confirmed what's left of my memory....in fact here is the link for the 1984 brochure. '84 was the only year that the 170 Tournament was built....
