A little advice needed. The boat has stock 9x12 trim tabs in place but no tubing, pump, or actuator. I will be upgrading from a 225 2 stroke to a 250 HP 4 stroke. I am looking to put a Bennett trim tab system in place, a complete new unit. The 2 suggested for this boat are the 18x12 and the 24x9. If I am thinking right the 24x9 actuators should boat up into the same holes as the stock actuators so I was thinking 24x9. Which would be better for performance.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do but after replacing the Bennett pumps on my Offshores (2) several times.....tracking down leaks in the tubing and having to generally bust my butt.....I went to Lenco electric trim tabs. No more hydraulics or pumps....except for wiring everything is outside the boat and easily serviced. They have worked very well for me.

Is that boat a 22 footer? If so, the recommended tabs are either 12 x 12 or 18 x 9. How did you size yours?

Another questions. You mention that you don't have any tubing, pump or actuator. Is thee a switch on the console for operation? If you have no actuators, do the existing tabs swing up and down? I am wondering what was there originally or added.

The actuator is the hydraulic cylinder between the tab and the transom. If you don't have that, you must have some form of Boat Leveler system.
I think your sizes are probably for flat trim planes, you would be okay with about 10X12 Bennett Sport Tabs, with the downward vertical fins on the sides.

I do have the actuators in place. It is a 228G. Actuators and tabs with no pump or tubing. The control is on the console. I have ordered 18 x 12 Bennett Hydraulic complete kit.

Any info on the actuators themselves or the controls?
