I’ve been working on my 1988 Seafarer project and it’s coming along.

I started at the dash and I’m working my way around. The old dash was a real mess and the steering helm was practically rusted to the wood (below). I’ve done a lot of compouding and polishing to get the Grady tan back and now I’ve installed a new helm, new compass and just yesterday came my new switch panel from New Wire Marine.

I also ordered two new black plexiglass panels to replace the two on hinges. I’ll flush mount electronics on the top one and gauges on the bottom one. I think it’s progressing nicely.

Here’s the old helm.

Here’s the dash as I got it a few months ago and then today.

Thanks! It’s a mess but it’s fun and it’s coming out better than I thought. I’ll run the new steering hoses next and attach all the wires with new connectors to the switch panel and test all the electricals. Pulling out the old copper steering lines was a mess. I also need to rebuild the bulkheads as they were totally rotted.

Here’s the bulkheads before and now.

Really looks great will give you a lot of pride doing it yourself.

I see you sprung for the Edson wheel-jealous ;)

Yeah, the Edson wheel is sort of my thing. I’ve had that same wheel on my last 4 boats. Not the same wheel, but same model.
