Hey everyone. I have a 20' 1989 overnighter that up until last week had the original 175HP Yamaha on it. While in mexico it burnt a cylinder so I decided to upgrade and went with a rebuilt 2002 Yamaha V-Max. My question is, what wire harness is needed to make this all funtion? The 10-pin plug connector is the only one that fits right now, but everything else is very different. I was told it was plug n play. Yeah right! :x Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Go to your local Yami dealer and get the adaptors (I had to use them when going from 1991's to 1996's).

I would check the shaft length of the V-MAX before you buy. If I'm not mistaken, the V-MAX only comes in a short shaft. The Overniter I believe requires a 25" shaft.

The V-max can be had with either a 20 inch length or a 25. I got the 25 which jacobsens in Seattle ( where I bought the boat in 89) said was the right length. The motor is really nice. Looking forward to seeing how much I gain. Gotta love EFI, starts instantly! :D
