Hi all,

I have a 93 Johnson and just had a recent problem with water in the fuel. I replaced all the filters and now she's running fine. One problem I'm still having is when I throw it in reverse, she stalls. Sometimes when I ease into the throttle I can get it to go into reverse but still doesn't feel like all the power is there. Any ideas?

There may be a switch on the motor that detects neutral (not the same as the neutral safety switch at the helm) I have no experience with those motors but I would try shifting the motor using the shift rod on the motor with the motor idling and tied off at the dock. You probably will have to disconnect the shift cable to manually shift the motor.
It is also possible that you have problem in the lower unit but one thing at a time

Do you know if that idle speed is correct or if it is low?

Idle is still too low. More backpressure in reverse.
