Lookin for advice on the ride and power provided by a 225 HP on 1996 Seafarer 226. Rated to 300 HP as I understand it. Is there enough power here to ski behind?

Sure. As long as your buddies don't include a 250 lb guy wanting to come out on 1 slalom.

Also, how heavy you load the boat and how many people you take along is a factor. 250 HP is optimum for that boat, but 225 will get the job done if you keep the boat fairly light and pull people mostly on 2 skis.

One more thing, prop sizes will matter too. I am not knowledgeable on props, but the right prop can make all the difference. Possibly a 4 blade for hole shot?

I'm pretty sure the 1996 Seafarer was only rated for 250 (I know my 2004 was only rated for 250). My 225hp tows just fine. Does it sling you out of the hole? No. But it will get you up just fine.

The max HP at the time was only either 240 or 250.

It's a heavy boat....you can pull a skier, but plan to drop to a lower pitch prop if you are going to do so.

Top end at max rpm will be 42-43
