Hey guys I have a 208 Adventure with a 200 Yamaha ox66. The motor currently has a black painted stainless steel yamaha prop that's a 19P and the motor is mounted on the second hole from the top. I am only able to achieve 5200 rpms with trimmed out. I was wondering what props everyone is running in this application and also what hole the motor is mounted on. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

My 99 208 with a 200 OX was also mounted in the second hole. If memory serves me correct, it also turned a 19P prop but I am certain it got to 5400-5500 rpm and top speed was 43-44 or so.

A drop to a 17 prop would put your RPMs at 5500-5600.

Thank you Parthery. I'm getting the same top speed as you but I'm only getting 5200 rpms max. Do you remember what brand prop and diameter you had on it?

It was the standard Yamaha 19 SS prop.

One thing I have found is that the Merc Mirage Plus Props tend to work really well on these heavy hulls....when you trim them way out, it almost acts like an overdrive gear and adds 3-400 rpm and a bit more speed.

I'd look for one and invest in it. If it doesn't work, take it off and put it on eBay.

given the different rpm but same hull speeds on identical boat/motor/prop setups i would suspect a tach accuracy issue. i once had a teleflex tach that failed. i replaced it with the exact same tach and it read 500 rpm different. at that point i got a digital testing tach which confirmed that the correct reading was right in the middle.

Not trying to be a smarty , but why on earth would you want to run a 208 at those speeds?

I'm not trying to run the boat at those speeds. I'm trying to achieve the best cruising speed with the most efficiency possible.

I found a used tach that I may purchase
and try first. Then I will try the prop if that is not the issue.
