I am interested in purchasing this boat. It is a 2002 GW Express. The engines are triple 300 hp Suzuki with 25 hours. The broker has commented that the transom was replaced with a "Midnight Express" transom in order to handle the additional horsepower. I do not have experience with any of this. Are these types of modifications done frequently? Any advice is certainly appreciated.

2002 330 were rated at round 600 HP max. another 300 hp seems like alot. insurance issues may arise as the boat has excess HP on it. MIdnight Express is a boat builder in their own right...if they did the work maybe reach out to them or the broker for any documentation on the modifications that were done.

Have you seen the one on the big boating forum in Ft Pierce? $75K less, looks very clean and has the correct number of Suzuki 300s (as opposed to 1.5x the correct amount)

Hello. Not sure if you are interested, but I am in the process of completely rebuilding a 2002 GW 330 Express. It has new electronics, battery panel and several other upgrades. But the most important one is that the transom was also completely rebuilt with Coosa Board and I added twin Yamaha 300's with the full maneuverability kit; built-in electronic steering, autopilot and joystick with 140 hours and 5 year warranty. At this point I am looking for $200K. As I said I am in the process of getting some other things replaced but obviously that will increase the prize. Let me know if this would be of interest to you.

Per the GW catalog, the 2002 GW 330 Express had a maximum horsepower rating of 500 hp. Not sure why someone ever put triple 300's on the back of this boat as that's almost double the maximum available horsepower. The following years increased the horsepower levels up to 600 hp, but goodness even with that you've still got more than 300 hp over the maximum rating.

IMHO - I think it's a really bad idea to put 900 horsepower on a 2002 330.

Kinda like putting a 10,000 pound boat on a trailer rated at 5,000 pounds.

Even with the transom supposedly having been redone, I can't see why you'd ever need 900 hp on a Grady White, but hey that's just me. To the OP, if you really want it then go for it.
