My trim guage is not working. When I turn ion the switch all the bars light up but it only shows 1 bar when running regardless of the engine trim. Where do you start?

If you are lucky, its just the tab on the front of the motor that the sending unit arm leans against. The tab runs about $15 or so. Yamaha changed the design from plastic to SS a couple years back because they kept breaking.

If that doesn't fix it, then you may need a new sending unit. Expect to pay $125 or so for one of those.

I love the boat but anytime you get a boat that has not been used lately there are several things not exactly right. Trim gauge, 1 bad battery, livewell pump (cheap Rule), dirt daubers nests, etc. Working thru them all. Still a great boat. I'm not surprised that a boat from Florida has trailer surge brakes that don't work. Still it is an 03 that was bought new in 05 and has not been used very much at all, just mainly sitting.

Could be movable arm has seized up and needs some exercise and lubricant, reach under thr tilt tube you will feel it and move it back and forth to evdntually full range and easy to move.

Do the same each season.

May take some time to free up, don't rush it.

When it is freely moving, will move by itself since it's spring bound to move in one direction, the other direction is via fixed tab push.
