After doing a quick Google search, it seems like very few of these boats came with a single Yamaha F225 as the maximum horsepower for that year/model was 350 hp, and it seems like most common are twin Yamaha F150's on the back on them. A few conversations on here as well as THT seem to lean towards a single F225 being a bit on the underpowered side for the boat, though I'm obviously no expert on the matter. Although, I do have a single Yamaha F225 on my boat, which has an almost 1k lb lighter dry weight than the boat that you're looking at and I don't think I'd ever want any less horsepower than what I've currently got. You could always try contacting Grady White themselves and see if they have the performance data on the approximate year and model of boat that you're looking at as well as the Yamaha F225 motor and see what they say. If you're worried about not having enough power, I'd consider your overall fishing needs, if you're going to be running solo most of the time, with a group of 4-5 buddies, heavy or light amounts of gear/bait/fuel and so forth. And as always, check the outboard to see if it has the dry exhaust corrosion problem that many early to mid 2000's Yamaha F225's are known to have, as well as a surveyor inspect the boat itself. Good luck!
am considering going up to an advance (from my 222 fisherman) and want to get experiences from those of you who have / had advances - either with twins or single F250's. I have the website and yamahas performance charts etc, but want to get some real world expereinces if possible. some say...
