Just picked up my new to me Sailfish. Has a great 40 mile run uo the coast. What a differnece going from a single engine Gulfstream to the twins on the Sailfish.
Trying to figure out the systems. The manual sasy there is a sump pump and a filter for the shower. Does anyone know the details about this. Is the sump an automatic pump? I dont see and switches to activate a sump sump pump and where is the filter referenced in the manual
Thanks for your insights.

Nice boat, if you take up the floor panel in the cabin you should see what you're interrested in and see if it's been maintained (mine is an older version but yours should be similar). There should be a bilge pump there too.

If you pop open the access plate you can look in and see the filter and sump. You will also see 2 valves there. Keep them closed while running.
Do you have a owners manual?

The shower sump pump is automatic, there is a rule type bilge pump with auto float switch.

On the 2004 Sailfish your sump pump with a float switch sits in a plastic box under the center of the midberth... just lift up the panel and you will see it. Your A/C(if you have one) condensation runoff and head shower empties into that box. Don't forget to winterize that area in the fall.

I'm not aware of a filter unless it is self contained in the pump. Probably just a screen.

HDGWJOE, do you also know where the sump pumps out of the hull at ?

I'm adding a hot water heater & shower. Already bought the heater, faucet, and sump pump setup.

Thanks

Bob, on my 2003 Sailfish the sump outlet was the most foreward port side outlet. I just looked at the downloaded manual from the GW site and it looks like they T'ed or Y'ed it into the galley sink outlet. They also show a loop in that line... probably for preventing the galley sink from emptying back into the sump pump. So I would guess the top of the loop would have to be at some minimum height to insure none of the galley water flows back to the sump.

Here is the 1992 manual... p58 shows the Sailfish sump exiting on the starboard side just behind the head sink outlet. It's not really clear if your sump pump would be installed under the cabin floor or under the midberth(if you have a midberth?).

Good luck with your install!!

I have the same set up on my 265, and its in the same place, why should I keep them both closed while I am running?

The filter on my boat is a tube with holes in it, that stops hair and things from getting into the pump. It's in the shower box under the cabin deck plate( round 6 inch inpection plate). I can't see mine but if you just feel with your hands ,theres a box, in it there is a round tube like filter running port to starboard. On the bottom of the box is a pump and float switch. If you forward builge pump ever fails the shower would be you back up after the water went over the box top. It's allway good to clean the box and filter out, it getting some wierd things in it some how. The shower box is about 10 inches by 6 inches, 5 inches high.

I don't think those two valves have anything to do with the shower sump, I bet one is for the macerator outlet, and I'll guess the other if for the A/C condenser cooling water inlet.

I only open my macerator valve when I discharge, don't have an A/C but it to be open when in use certainly.

Checked with the dealer on the 2 valves on the Sailfish. One if the saltwater intake for the marine head the other is the outflow valve for the holding tank.
